I'm a new member on here so wanted to share that I went to the gym today!!! (Signed up last week ) I felt frumpy awkward and apprehensive as I have bouts of anxiety too but can strike it off the list now--- DONE!! (didn't help that my iPhone went loopy and I had to suffer the same song on repeat lol )

Well done for making such a positive first step, your story gives me flash backs to my first gym expedition earlier this year. The key thing now is to keep going regularly. If you do I guarantee that within a few weeks going into the gym will feel completely natural. Good luck with it. James
Have you thought about checking out the Couch to 5k forum and using the NHS C25K app. Might help give you some focus in the gym
You are a star. Now you have made the first visit you will have realised that everyone in the gym is so busy with their own workout that they take no notice of others. That will be you too before long. So don’t let initial awkwardness put you off. Go for it. If it would help your confidence look out for some new gym kit in the supermarket next time. Prices low enough to replace items as you shrink. You can blow that ‘chocolate budget’ on it!
