Hi I'm really new to this, basically hit rock bottom, my weight is the worst it's been, motivation is a huge struggle and I know my depression is creeping back and I'm falling into old habits, I just can't keep control... I don't know what's wrong with me. Any advice or tips to get me out of this funk will be amazing or if any of you started the same, basically anything will be great.

Hi Hodgekay and welcome
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI (can be found in the pinned Newbie post) to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for 😊
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate 😊
To the right of the HOME page (bottom on a mobile), you'll find Events. In there, you'll find links to our daily Weigh-in's (you will choose just one day per week), our Daily Diary, where we post our menu and exercise plans, for accountability, advice and support - which is great to get ideas of what other people are eating and I have to confess to nicking some of their menu's and our “What's happening today” thread, where we pop in for a chat.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
Cheering you on to reach your goals 🎉🎉🎉
Hi and welcome. I have two stone left to lose. We'll do it together.
Thanks for the welcome. That's great, how did you start off? I can't seem to keep on track for a day! X
I hit an all time high with an extra forty pounds. My husband went out of town to work for many weeks and I saw it as a time to focus on my health. I just started eating all healthy almost all the time. I quite all fast food and started taking my lunch to work. I started walking at the gym with my daughter and I made a vow to get thinner for my husband who is very fit. I want to make him look good like I used to. I want to look in mirrors again. I'm not giving up. It's been nine weeks and sixteen pounds off. Coming here and doing the challenges and weigh in helps alot. I have people to talk to that give so much encouragement. Just start and when you first see results it will put a fire under you. I have slipped and bought fast food but either threw it away or couldn't eat that junk anymore. It's not really hard anymore. Stick with it and you'll be surprised.!
Sounds like you really know what your aiming for and that's great. My husband is really fit too and it can sometimes be difficult trying to explain how I feel, he can follow diets and fitness programs really well. I wish I could just stick, going to try small and build myself up but I have a very long way to go, about 6 stone to get back to what I was. I'm obese and pregnant, which is not good, so I know I need to healthy and keep exercising. Thanks for the advice it's been really helpful. Ur husband will be blown away when he gets back. X
Thank you. Be sure to check with your doctor before starting a weight loss and exercise program while pregnant. I bet that can be tricky. Good luck to you!
Don't worry I've already covered it with the docs and midwife, I have a heart murmur too and I've been exercising consistently for years and it helps, I just really struggle with over eating (binging) and eating junk. I used to drink loads of wine but not touched a drop since the baby (15 weeks so far) my BMI is 38 which is really bad. Just feel caught in a self destructive loop x
Congrats!! I used to binge every day. It made me feel good, drinking too. I am still having trouble with drinking since my husband has been gone. I get lonely and stressed with just me and my daughter. Is this your first pregnancy? How excited you must be!! I loved it!!
Yes first pregnancy, exciting and scary! I'm 33 and classed as an 'older' mother, scarier!! What was your turning point? It'll all be worth it when your husband comes home. X
I was exactly thirty three and scared with my only one too! I was not taking care of myself and walked around in big baggy clothes, no make up, hair up. I was very low. I knew it was now or never. Gotta go shopping for food now. Pm me if you want.
Exactly how I feel now, thanks so much for replying it's been really helpful. Heading to bed now, it's 10pm here. X
Hi
We all have been there, don't worry too much
Take week by week and I would say first plan your healthy meals for the week then start with exercise
That works for me always
And try your best to stick to your plans.
Even if you have bad day don't worry just carry on next day
I am sure you will do it
Hi sorry I didn't know you are pregnant.
I would say don't worry too much about the weight if you are pregnant ,you will lose weight after the birth
Welcome and best wishes.
Eating healthily will nourish the new life growing inside you. That's a great motivation.
As regards exercise, just concentrate on getting out in the fresh air.
What a wonderful example you are for getting healthy before the birth. You'll be a great role model.
Hi there! Congrats on your pregnancy. I would take one day at a time with eating while your pregnant. Just eat healthy and get out to walk 20 to 30 minutes of walking 3 to 5 times a week and breathe in that fresh air. they say that exercise it is easier on your birthing when due time.
