a little bit about myself.

i've started the weight-loss journey once again, and the starting weight is 15st 7lbs, the heaviest i have ever been :'( and it sucks!! In the past I have been on so many "diets" but this time im not thinking about it as a diet, im thinking of it as a new life style and it is hard.

last year i did weight watchers and i failed terribly and my last weigh in was 13st 3lbs (june 2012) i think, so thats 2st 4lbs ive put on in a year, and that year was stressful...i lost my job, i got ill, i wanted a baby, but was to big, i moved out of my parent into a damp house and then moved in a great one, arguments with the partner and the list never stops and i think ive go so used to that routine i piled on the weight and it took the closest people in my life to give me a reality check to make me look at myself and say i was 11st 3 years ago, what happened??

so ... starting weight was 15st 7lbs Monday 17th June 2013 at 9:00 at boots store and i weighed myself yesterday (friday 21st June at 9:00) on my house scales and i was 14st 12lbs!! so if my scales are correct i have lost 8lbs in 5 days...i dont really trust my scales but i am happy haha and all ive done is have 3 meals a day no snacks/snacking, no bread (hardly), no fizzy pop and doing 20mins kickboxing a day

so here i am a new chapter of my life, please anyone give me tips or just have a friendly chat :) becasue its going to be hard and even tho i have everyone behind me here i would love to make some new friend too.

I would say it is best to weight yourself on the same scales at a similar time and wearing the same sort of clothes.

Also stay positive and don't give up. I find this site very good for support,

sparkpeople.com it is american but has British sections with lots of advice and recipes.

Welcome Littlemissfitter, I love your name...very positive. Now you need to live up to that name. Weight loss is easy - eat less, move more, so how come we all find it so difficult? Most times it is because there is an underlying reason for it. Mine's was a partner who was controlling and I gave my control over my life away to him because 'I loved him' rubbish!!!! I was just being lazy, I should have stood up for myself and took responsibility for myself, which after ten years is what I did!! lol I now eat of a Miss Kitty plate and I have a Miss Kitty bowl for my cereal and soup. I take my two dogs out separately - double the exercise lol I say no to things I don't want just because someone has asked me, it doesn't mean I have to accept. Again taking back that control. I'm not saying it's easy because it's not but if you make subtle changes, particularly the smaller portion sizes eventually your stomach will tell you, you've had to much. That is the time you get up and throw the rest in the recycling there and then, no temptation to go and get it later. I've even cancelled my Sky subscription so that I don't have loads of crap to watch, I now take my dogs out or go to the gym. I get up at 6am every morning and go swimming before work and school. Every little bit helps. Set yourself SMART goals and challenges like the c25k on here. Look for the little box at the top of the page. Couch to 5k, you can do it. Good luck and we are all here for you if you need us. xx

Hi,

I would agree with the other comments- spark people is fantastic - you log your food and it helps you to make sure you are having a balanced diet- I was having far too many carbs when I started and not enough protein- I log my food a day ahead so I know what I'm having.

I also found that I needed to limit my portion size, because I was brought up to clear my plate. If I put it on my plate I would eat it! I'm also an evening snacker so I make sure I save something for after tea, I then go to bed early- I can't eat if I'm asleep :)

I've reached my target now, which was to get my BMI in the ideal range- now my next goal is to do the couch to 5k - I'm just starting week 8, so nearly there! I've signed up to a BHF 5k with my sisters to keep me motivated. Map my walk is another fab app that tells you how many calories you burn while cycling or walking- helps to work out that all important deficit :)

Slow and steady and you'll get there :)

Already you feel good about your weight loss! Keep that feeling going. Snack on fruit and pile the plate with veg. Bread is the enemy, I think. It's all about baby steps and they'll soon add up. Good luck! You can do it!
