Morning anitakohli

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

If your diet is healthy maybe you should also check on a day your rough amount of calories you have. Firstly look on the NHS bmi calculator to see your personal recommendations for how many you should have in a day to actually lose weight. The others tend to be average amounts for everyone so they are not worth going by. Then make sure you are even eating enough. When I first joined I found I wasn't even eating many calories in a day as I was only eating around 1000 Cals a day. This was actually my problem as my body thought I was starving it and turned what I did eat into body fat to ensure it could continue. Bodies do the same to everyone not eating enough. Once I upped my calories and started eating enough I started losing weight and have managed to lose 2st. Do make sure you keep a check on it as the amounts to eat do drop as your weight does. I would recommend eating towards the higher end of calories as I ate the lower end because I thought I wouldn't cope with the higher amount after only eating around 1000 but now my body has got used to the amounts and I am starting to feel like I am not even eating enough. Very strange I know.

Agree with above, if someone has a lot of weight to lose healthy eating and exercise alone may be enough for some initial weight loss but you only have a very small amount to lose and counting calories will make sure you create enough of a deficit . It can seem like a chore at first but the counting feels less frustrating once you see the number on the scales start to come down. Good luck 😀
