Welcome back to our forum. I don't think anyone is happy when they first step on the scales and see their weight. I think you just need to bite the bullet. If you need a reminder of what we offer here is a linkhealthunlocked.com/weight-l....

Start by posting your start weight and some information about yourself on the Weigh In. Have a look at The Daily diary for meal ideas and meal plans. Do you have a plan for weight loss? Finding something that works for you is the main thing whether its calorie counting, low carb or whatever you prefer. Keep coming here and chatting and let us know how you are doing. The more you join in the more support you will get. We have all been there and understand.

Once you have bitten the bullet and made a plan the losses will come and things will look more positive. You can do this! Good luck

I think it's worthwhile giving it a go so you know your starting point but there are other measures you could use to note your progress.

Measurements: waist and hips, and also upper arms and thighs, maybe wrists and ankles.

Clothes: find something that just fits now, or something that doesn't fit, and check how you're changing against them. Belts, rings, watches, too.

But more important is the changes you're going to make to your eating. Do an honest, detailed stocktake of what you've been eating in the past week, then start planning for the coming week - and I DON'T mean eating less of your current choices but making some real changes to what you eat.

All the best 😊

Well i finally worked up the courage and stepped on the dreaded scales, 107.9 kg 🫣. So i need to give myself a good talking too. Going to try IF as well as a serious overhaul of diet. Have tried to make an appointment with my GP to discuss the way forward, but thats next to impossible. So i guess I'm just going to have to knuckle down and do it myself.

Good for you. Take some of those measurements as well - they can give you some encouragement when the scales aren't playing ball.

And you're not on your own: just link in to what's happening here, as Tabby says.

Onwards and downwards :)

Hi Jan-welly,

Last time you were here you were using LCHF and IF and had lost 2 stone, has that stopped working for you? Have you checked that your thyroid hormones are being optimally replaced?

Maybe you could try a reset and check that you're still sticking to the 'rules' and as springersrule has suggested, join in for tips, advice and support.

Onwards and downwards! :)

Welcome Pb1961. I think its a good idea to build habits to help with weightloss and longer term healthy eating so I weigh come rain or shine, good or bad week on the same day every week. Just once a week. I don't dwell on it but I think its good to have a baseline and to see if I'm going in the right direction. I lost a lot of weight with weightwatchers some years ago and I did hate weighing with the leader but I wouldn't have succeeded without it. You can do it.

as some others have said, best to bite the bullet! Once you’ve found your starting point you will feel more positive. But don’t be hard on yourself , I’ve used the nhs weight loss app successfully before.
