Hi and welcome to the forum Lwebb I would suggest you look at the NHS BMI calculator and get your calorie range and then look at the NHS 12 week plan
I would like to invite you to join our Newbie Club, which we hope will be a good place for you to connect with members, who are also just starting out, or re-starting.
If you just post a few words on the November Newbie Club thread to introduce yourself and respond to others there you will soon feel part of the club.

Please read all the information carefully, it is very useful and can be referred to whenever you want to check something.
It just remains for me to wish you well on your journey
Great of you to join us. It does get harder as we get older but it certainly isn't impossible.
Think about what you are eating, portion size, processed foods, carb overload. Of course none of those things might be an issue for you.
Pop over to the Daily Diary and check out what others are eating, you will get lots of ideas.
This a great place to get support and helpful tips. I am struggling too but am sure we can all get where we want to be eventually. Good luck
Sorry to hear you are struggling, can you enlighten us so we can help?
Wishing you all the best lizziep
I am 61 and 14 st. Think I'm doing the right things but weight doesn't move. I have under active thyroid and a gluten and egg intolerance which causes IBS . Weight has crept up and just can't get it to creep down again. Lots of support here I joined 5 months ago and have not lost at all so this week I joined the monday weigh in to try again. I do find i get quite tearful about it now and also have started to avoid going out socially as I feel I look bad. Stupid I know but that's how I feel sometimes.
Well done on being so honest 14st is not too bad (that's slightly under where I started ) I have lost 20lbs in just over a year - so slow but I am maintaining if not losing which is good
I also have an under active thyroid - recently diagnosed
Are you following the NHS 12 week plan? that's where I started and calorie counted every mouthful - you can still eat lots of the food you like as long as you count the calories.
I spent a whole weekend going through my fridge / freezer / cupboards and looked at all the food and set up a spreadsheet of a portion size or 100g size and put the calories in this and then calorie counting became a lot easier
Wishing you all the best - C'mon you can do this we are all here to support you
Thank you for your reply. I will have a busy weekend following your advice. Well done on your great weight lose. ☺
Hope I haven't made you give up other plans for the weekend
I look forward to seeing how you get on
Don't forget to do the NHS BMI calculator to get your personal calorie range - and make sure you eat to the top to middle range of those calories as I didn't and didn't lose weight
Then someone on here told me to eat the higher range and I started losing
Wishing you great success Lwebb - welcome to the forum family..
Cheering you on 🎉🎉🎉
