Hi I found HU through the British Heart Foundation community and thought it would be a good idea to join this forum also. I am an archetypal yoyo dieter; the most recent episode being having lost nearly 4 stone for my wedding 8 years ago and since then having put it all back on and some
I have now very recently been diagnosed with angina and am waiting for stents, so this time the need for weight loss AND change in habits is very real to me. However exercise causes me problems at the moment so everything has to be in moderation. I didn't know about the 12 week plan but will have a look at it. At the moment my focus is on low cholesterol and so far I have lost just under a stone so am very pleased with that. Just a few more to go................

Hello pinkhairedgirl and welcome to the Weight Loss Forum
Very well done losing almost a stone, that's excellent!
Here are a few suggestions on how to get the most out of the forum. Please note if you are using the new HU App many of these features are not available so I suggest you use the full website version.
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you. Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, as well as a new Daily Diary, if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page. And if you just want to chat, to say hello or share any news or struggles then look out for What's Happening Today thread.
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you have a 'Newbie' badge. We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too. If you have any questions please just ask
Hi there. I have also signed up the the British Heart Foundation forum here as they sent me an email to let me know that it had started up.
I put on a silly amount of weight through heart failure and low T3 syndrome (both un-diagnosed) more than 20 years ago. Now both issues are finally being addressed, I have stuck with the weight loss forum because of the outstanding support here.
Hi pinkhairedgirl . My tip is not to worry - exercise, although good for you, is not key to weight loss. Eating healthier and portion control or calorie counting are all it takes. And the NHS 12 week plan is the best start, thousands on here are testament to that. So good luck, come on here for support and advice, we can supply all of that! 😊
Hello and welcome! I hope you'll join our daily diary every day and log your food plans every day to get a good handle on calorie planning and get great ideas and support!
Well done for the weight you've lost already! Let's hope this forum is the motivation you need to get those next few stones off!
I'm sorry to hear you've had health problems. Well done for taking positive steps to be better again. Ultimately, I'm here to improve my health too. Yes, I want to look like a svelte silkclad gazelle by a swimming pool, but that would just be a nice bonus to being a healthy weight. Genuinely that's how I'm seeing it. I think it's the purest motivation and less likely than other times to fail. I hope for both (/all) of us!
Welcome! Hope you get a lot of good out of the forum 😊
