Good morning all........ hope you have all started the day well....... I have just joined hoping to get some help and encouragement from others here on this site. I am a female aged 64 and need to lose around 3 stone so quiet a big challenge ahead ....... i used to find it easy to lose weight not the case anymore ...... i current weigh 14 Stone 7 ..... not sure how i am going to do this........ I broke my left ankle at Easter had to have it plated both sides so still struggling to walk and walking was my way of exercising so struggling on that front at the moment used to walk on average 3 - 4 miles a day. Any ideas for exercising welcomed...... thinking that losing weight will help on the ankle front less weight to carry around the better....... well lets hope this is the start of losing... I have started the day okay porridge for breakfast with blueberries

Don't worry about the reduced exercise. Exercise does help with overall health but nearly all weight loss will be down to what and how much you eat.
Try to read the encyclopedia's worth of info that moreless has provided and as importantly, engage with the forum, it's events, challenges, posts and replies.

Time is always an issue but with my evangelical hat on, when you do have spare time, what better than focusing on your health
The website can be a tadge confusing so if you have any problems just shout out and someone will help.
How about trying a swim, that's non weight bearing so won't put additional strain on your healing bones.
Thanks Lzlycraft..... that's a good idea ... I love swimming but I am very nervous of slipping on the wet floor at my local pool the changing rooms are very slippery .... need to get over the nervousness..... trouble is I broke my ankle by slipping on a very slight slope of wet grass..... having said all that....... I agree its a good form of exercise without weight bearing and I will pluck up the courage and give it a go in the half term holidays
Hi need to lose. It is frustrating when you want to exercise but can't.
As other have said weight loss is mostly down to the food you eat, but exercise is good for toning and makes you feel better in yourself.
Maybe you could look on line for some seated exercises whilst your ankle is recovering.
