I'm getting married at the beginning of August and I've put weight on instead of loosing it. I'm having a bad time at the moment and I just keep giving in to bad food, I've always had good ish self control but its disappeared at the moment. I joined a gym and the same there. Need some help as my dress has just come and I won't fit into it. I've always been 2 stone less than I'm now but had a baby at 41 and can't loose the 2 stone, I did put on 3/5 stone on with the pregnancy so lost 1.5 but keep sticking at 11.5/ 11 stone. Always been 9.5 stone, feeling so unhappy.

Hi Debbie2017
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
Sorry to hear your having a bad time at the moment. There is lots of support here to encourage you to stay on track so have a look around the forum and join in with one of the weigh ins.
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

Have a good first week.

Hello and welcome Debbie,
I understand how panicked you must feel and it's important not to rush in to anything that could seriously damage your health.
I don't mean to sound patronising but take a deep breath, step back and look at the bigger picture.
We women are all too willing to suffer for the sake of looking good and the bottom line is that some will go to dangerous lengths to achieve their goals.
I have found that the key to sucess is to set yourself small attainable targets.
If, for example, you lost two pounds a week and kept this up for eight weeks, that would equal a loss of 16lbs (1st 2lbs) in time for your wedding.
Don't be disheartened by small setbacks, just dust yourself off and carry on.
Good luck to you
Thanks, think I need a different mind set than I've had in the past. I've spent most of my adult life on an extremely hard diet. Only eating a slice of bread made into a sandwich at lunch and then beans on toast for dinner with fruit and yogurt. I've never aloud myself pastry or fried foods. It's been hard but I liked my size, but 6 years ago I got pregnant and was worried I wasn't eating enough for my baby and myself, but think I went overboard. And now I enjoy food and can't get back on track. Sorry to go on.
First of all you need to shift your focus from where you are to where you want to be. Procrastination and lack of results is often because you havent planted a goal in your mind probably. You have to see yourself already with it (the goal) see yourself at your ideal weight at the wedding and get emotionally involved in that mental picture - over and over again, everyday.
If a person can think about something bad happening in the future ( what we call worry/doubt) they can also think about something good happening in the future (faith)
Faith is the ability to see something in the minds eye that haven't manifested physically yet. The beauty is that If you can see it in your mind you already got it! You just have to go out and find it, in otherwords - You have to take massive action.
If your goal just is to "lose some weight" that is the reason you are giving in to all the same old habits.
You have to literally feed your subconscious mind with a target otherwise you will never lose weight permanently.
Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding despite the fact that my fiancé and I haven't set a date for our wedding yet. I am currently following Slimming World but weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to the meetings because I am in the process of moving and saving for my wedding. I have lost 7 1/2lbs in the last 5 weeks. I love the forum and I appreciate the support that I get from other forum members as well as family and friends.
Have you checked how many calories you are actually eating every day. When I first joined here I was never losing any weight and had wanted to for most of my life but struggled most of the time. I found out on here that I wasn't losing weight because I wasn't eating the amount of calories advised by the NHS bmi calculator for us to lose weight because I was only eating around 900 calories a day. It gives you a fair amount of calories you can eat between and since I started eating the amount of calories it suggested I started losing weight. I couldn't believe it. I ate more calories and lost weight. I have now lost 2st. Good luck with your journey.
