I started my weight loss programme 5 weeks ago. I've only just learnt about this site!
I was 24 kgs overweight at the beginning, I've lost 6.3. I'm aiming to be at 80 kilos in 15 weeks. I am currently bang on target.
Found a blog post that kicked me into preparing all of my own meals (rather than using the justeat app to order yet another 12 inch, stuffed crust pizza). Wonder if it might be helpful to others (beware the colourful language).
I have many, many graphs. I also have many bits of paper with nutritional info scrawled over them, and I need to delete the scores of photos from food packets.
Brilliant post FarmerGeddun and I loved that article. I'm not averse to a swear or two and it made me laugh. So it's motivation v discipline, I think I'll test the theory out tomorrow?
It's an odd thing...I've stopped and started the diet with an attitude of 'I can't be bothered, no one cares any how' which is not only lack of motivation but self pity/derision/passing the onus onto someone else.
The bottom line is im being a lazy bum. And there's that old devil 'procrastination' . So I'm with you on the discipline thing.
Mantra of the day needs to be 'don't think it, just do it'
The only person who can do it is you. Likewise, you're the only person who can stop you.
Personally, I'm sick of starting and stopping. I did some reading beforehand and now (for the first time) I'm tracking everything. When I feel down I set my tape measure to what it was when I started, put it around my waist, and try to see what I can fit in there.
An admin will reply later and give you the low down on how you can get the most out of this site. There'll also be a 5kg badge for you when they see your post
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The links can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.
We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.
Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Very insightful little nuggets in this article, enjoyed it, thanks. I love the line "The point is to cut the link between feelings and actions, and do it anyway. You get to feel good and buzzed and energetic afterwards". I'm trying to distract myself from the treat shelf these days, my hands are in bits from pulling weeds. Wishing you well!
