I've gone past my mid 50th earlier this month and after 100s of attempts I would like to have a 'normal' relationship to food. Since my early twenties I've been yo-yo dieting and binging. My body and my mind deserve some TLC but my AV Addictive Voice keeps interfering grrrrrrr. So here I am hoping to find some like-minded people.
I think the 12 week program and support around it is fantastic. I started it in late Feb but only lasted 2 weeks, then my birthday seemed a good excuse to make an exception and over 2 weeks later I'm still living the exception.
My plan is to get back on the program tomorrow. I have a meal plan ready and the yoga mat is rolled out too
I would like to lose some weight for the summer and all, but straightening out my eating habits is further up the list for me.
Gosh I'm so glad I finally written all the above and I hope you don't mind when I start calling for moral support....
Thank you X

I know you're not technically a newbie, but as you've only just come out of hiding, I'm going to give you all the info anyway
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
Welcome back to the board I'm with you, sorting out my relationship with food is my main goal and if I lose weight/inches along the way then I'll be chuffed...
We're here for you what meal plan have you sorted for yourself if you don't mind sharing?
Thank you starsandshards. I like to keep things simple...or you could call it boring
porridge with milk and honey and seed mix for breakfast,
fruit as a snack,
soup for lunch, mostly shop bought but I read the labels and keep it below 300 calories, I also like tinned mackarel to add some protein
yoghurt as after
fruit as a snack
salad with some protein, chicken or fish for supper. Sometimes I have porridge for supper, yummy.
this will add up to around 1400 cal.
I work full time and we're 5 adults at home so all I have to do during the week is the food shopping and every morning prepare lunch and supper for them, they will then cook it. I only cook family meals on weekends. Saying that we all have a sweet tooth and there is always chocolate and cakes in the house.
I want to get this under control so badly. I manage to stop smoking many years ago and last year in May I stopped drinking alcohol all together. So this is my next goal on my way to Freedom as I call it.
Sounds like you have a great plan in place I'll give some of those things a shot - I think I'll have to get back into measuring portions as well to stay on track. Thanks!
Good idea to get used to portion size. I think the first week is hard because the body needs to get used to it. I also keep the url for the calorie counter in my inbox so I can quickly check on calories.
Do you do a lot of exercise? I only like low impact stuff like yoga and walking. Luckily we have 4 dogs to keep me company. I live in Wales and it's quite hilly here so no matter where I go it's uphill a lot.
