Hi, I'm new to this forum and not really sure what to say. I'm not feeling very enthusiastic or positive. I've lost weight before but always end up bigger than the last time. Nowadays i can't seem to stay on a diet for 7 hours never mind 7 days. Regardless, here I am, I've nothing to lose, except maybe 5 stone lol.

Does anyone know where I can find some willpower or motivation?

Wish me luck.

X

Hi and welcome, Fortynfedup :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), or in the drop down on the 'Posts' page (it says 'arrange by'). Read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run a weigh-in every day of the week and you'd be very welcome to join one of them. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the HOME page, bottom on a mobile.

We also run a Daily Diary, where we share our meal and exercise plans for the day. It's a great place to get ideas and to keep us focused. The link can also be found in Events.

Be aware, that the HU app doesn't give you access to all of our important features, so we advise that you use the full website page.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Hi Fortynfedup,

Try and put those other days behind you and make this Day 1. Don't worry, chances are there'll be other Day 1s but the trick is to get back at it each time we 'fall off the wagon'. The good thing, is that this forum is the best place you can be for getting the support to not fall off and also to get back on that wagon if you do.

I wish you all the luck in the world, though do make sure you try and absorb as much of what moreless posted just now. It worked / is working for me and for many others here.

Hi. I'm just going through the plan and trying to find out how it all works. I have 5 stone to lose but every pound would be a bonus. Do you have a goal in mind? Good luck to you to shanester 123.

Thank you for replying .

Well, according to the weight charts- I should weigh around 6 and half - to 9 and a half stone ( 6 and half- really !!!) so I guess I'll take it half a stone at a time, but even 9 stone would be great, but ideally 8 stone is my end target. You?- and good luck by the way.

Don't think diet think lifestyle change ... I have done all sorts of diets fad non fad and everything in between ... lots of small changes have worked for me along with consistency ... my top tips would be:

Don't confuse hunger for thirst ... try a drink before food give it fifteen mins and if you are still hungry have a snack but be conscious of what you take in

Don't be hungry ... if you deprive yourself from my experience it will fall apart .... if you are hungry have a snack key is again be conscious of what you take in ... you likely need less than you my eat in that position so have a small snack and wait fifteen mins (as it apparently takes 15 mins to register in you brain that you have eaten and are full).

This is not easy and it will be hard but eventually it will get easier good luck!! 😀

Thanks for that, I'm going to try that.

I've just emptied the fridge of everything "bad" and tomorrow I'm going to stock up on healthy alternatives and fill a litre bottle with water. The replies I have received have definitely lifted my mood.

How do I join a weigh in?

Thanks

Each day there is a weigh-in which can be found on the right hand side under 'Events' when you're at the Home page. If you're using a mobile then you need to scroll down to the bottom. We stick to one weigh-in and weigh weekly. Today's one is also here....
