Hi I'm new to this today and need to lose at least 7 stone...more in reality. I'm 38 and have two beautiful children who I want to see grow up and meet they're children. Plus I want to be a good role model. I can't believe I've hit 21 stone and I can't seem to stop myself. I've lost weight before and yoyo'd and I can't seem to get myself in the zone. I'm hoping this forum will help me. I've lost some people I know of similar ages lately and it's my wake up call. Good luck everyone x
Hello!: Hi I'm new to this today and... - Weight Loss Support
Hello!
Hi Clairebear38 and welcome to the weight loss forum.
Don't worry about the bigger picture just break it down into 7lb targets and it will soon start to disappear. I started here at 22st 2lb and I'm now 17st 2lbs so if I can do it anyone can.
You are invited to join our Newbie Club, where you can meet other new members who are just beginning their weigh loss journeys too. Here's the link for all the information you will need to find your way around the forum:

Write a brief note to introduce yourself to other newbies and I'm sure you'll be making friends, in no time.
Good luck with your first week.
Hello and welcome Clairebear38 😊
Clairebear38 , you've come to the right place for encouragement and ideas and others in the same boat (or other boats of their own ). You'll be getting a reply from one of the admin team, explaining about the Newbie Club and how to find your way around this site.
A lot of us use the NHS 12 week plan as our starting point. It isn't a "diet plan" but a guide to a healthy approach to eating and lifestyle. There are no "gimmicks" or fads or short cuts, so yoyoing is less likely.
You have really strong incentives to start making some positive choices for yourself. Keep those in mind when things get tough or you're thrown off-course.
hello & welcome to the forum.. this place is great and the more you put in the more you get out of it so get involved... the weighins are a great place to start as you get to know people each week which helps you to keep going.. good luck and hope you get your target.... but remember dont call it a diet cos they have to end.. . this has to be something you can sustain for life and has to be a lifestyle change that you enjoy and fits in with your life.... losing just 1lb a week could mean you could be 3.5st lighter by next xmas !
Good luck x
Hello,
I am in the same boat, I have 6st to lose to be a healthy weight, I started eating healthier meals and snacks after a wake up call at the doctors.....I must make changes. In the last 10 days I have lost 8lbs, simply cutting out processed foods and increasing my intake of water. It is a great start to the beginning of a long journey.
Friends said I should wait until after Christmas, but Christmas is just one day!
Good luck,
Maxine
Thanks everyone, what a lovely welcome! I feel like food is an addiction. I've been offered a gastric band by the GP last year and I lost 3 Stone but have put it back on again. I like the comment about not seeing it as a diet, it's my 'fresh and healthy start' 😀. Just off to have fruit salad and yoghurt for breakfast rather than my usual cheese and marmite toastie xx
welcome clairebear38 hope you have a good week.
Hi welcome to forum. I have got three young girls and I got 3 stone to lose. I know it’s hard but you will get lot of support and motivation through stories of others. I want to be fit and healthy for myself and my family so I am trying very hard to give up old eating habits.
All the Best 😊
