Goodbye carbs...!

Hello Everyone, after totally missing fridays weigh in, and being a little slack, I'm making some improvements and changes, as I seem to be stuck now at my current weight!

I've decided to reduce my carbs, as Gluten free pasta, rice, and potato are my staple food and not helping me at all!

It's quite fun so far actually - I really have to come up with interesting meals, and use alternative carb choices such as celeriac, cauliflower and pulses which I (luckily) love anyway!

Is anyone else low-carb, if so, what are you finding the most enjoyable/interesting to eat?

I'm glad you're enjoying being low carb, victoria-anne, especially as you follow a gluten-free diet anyway! We're all so used to planning our meals around carbs, that it's exciting to come up with new ideas for meals.

I suggest you log onto the Daily Diary, as many others are following low carb menu plans, so you're bound to get lots of new ideas :)

Yes, my Mum thinks I've give mad - but I don't see how it changes too much, as so many carbs are gluten anyway.

She's relieved I don't live at home anymore, that's for sure!!

Ok, yes, I'll do that!!

A relative of mine was seriously overweight and lost a ton of weight (6 stone or more) by following the John Briffa diet - I think it's called Waist Disposal. I think what separates Briffa from the fray is that he's a working and well respected doctor rather than just some geezer who wrote a few articles for Mens Health and decided to write a book :)

I did try it but personally found the lack of variety - eggs and salad and nuts and chicken every day... unsustainable over a long period - but that probably says more about me than anything else!

I think anything eaten everyday is unsustainable ! Though maybe not eggs 🍳😍

Well done. It does take a bit of adjustment at first, as our traditional Western diet is very carbcentric. Once you get used to it though, it is great. Without the huge swathe of calories taht is usually taken up by starchy carbs, you can eat so much more flavoursome stuff of lower caloric density. Or just have a whole lobster or an enormous steak.

And... now I'm hungry...
