Some folks on here are suggesting for me to eat more to lose weight. Apparently, if you do not eat enough food, your body goes into starvation mode, leading to your body storing fats, slowing down your metabolism, and ultimately hindering weight loss.

I was on a diet of around 1,700 calories per day, but the BMI calculator is telling me to eat around 2,400 (I'm obese). They believe I should follow that. I made a compromise, so I'll eat around 2,000-2,100 per day and see how it goes.

As for the ice cold water trick, I've heard of that somewhere! I'll definitely give it a try. I'll drink some before I go to sleep.

Thanks for sharing this!

Hi DiZia the people are right, I started with eating 1200 calories a day and was getting nowhere, after checking the bmi calculator I upped my calories to 1800 a day, I check every 7lb loss to make sure I'm still using the right amount of calories and after 3 stone loss I can still have 1680 a day (I'm losing roughly 1lb a week).

Good luck xx

That's great. Now it's undertsandable why most people are unsuccessful with weight loss. They think that they have to restrict their diet to lose weight. This may damage their metabolism, and lead to them regaining their weight after they come off their diets.

Yes, I'l try 2,000-2,200, they BMI calculator did tell be to try starting at the lower end, rather than at 2,900.

3 stones is a lot of weight. Congrats.

I know I was a yo-yo dieter for years, wish I'd found this site 20 years ago 😉 sticking to the lower end works for me 😉 good luck

You'll soon be sporting a lovely weight loss badge 😆🏆 xx

Quickly scanned the internet and if you drink eight 8oz glasses of ice cold water a day then you may lose somewhere between 1 and 8 cals per glass. So 8 - 64 cals. These calculations appear to be taken in isolation and don't seem to take into account that the water you normally drink is already normally cold and will require your body to burn some of those cals in the first place. That would reduce those figures.

So maybe it would make a difference or in my case if I eat 10g less of Chilli heatwave Doritos, I'll achieve the same effect.
