Hi all , I'm overweight and not happy about it , so I'm working out how to lose weight sensibly , at 50 it seems harder ?? I'm about 3 stone overweight and I think if I got it off I'd have excess skin to contend with ,

Hi nice to meet you. It is harder to lose weight when you are older and I agree loose skin can be a problem. The key is to lose it very slowly to minimise that. Have a look at the pinned posts and you will see lots of useful info on there.

Hi! Welcome. I wouldn't worry too much about loose skin - it's healthier than being overweight. Lose weight slowly and exercise as you go and it will be minimised. 🤞

Welcome. I wouldn't worry too much about loose skin. I'm a bit older than you and have lost about 2 1/2 st in the last 4 1/2 months and no obvious signs of loose skin. Like Hidden said, if you aim to lose it slowly, then that should minimise any occurrence.

Good luck

Hello and welcome, I'm 52 and the weight is coming off a little slower than in the past but still steady if I stick to my calories, which isn't a bad thing as less likely to get the loose skin if done slowly. I do have some saggy bits round my tummy but they are from 3 pregnancies/ c sections over 20 years ago not recent weight loss.

Tackle the weightloss slow and steady, and do exercise then your skin will adapt more easily. I'm more than a decade older than you, I lost 2 stone over eleven months and another half stone in the year following. My skin is not as bad as I had expected, My tummy and hips are fine just some loose skin in the underarm, inner thigh and neck, but that happens anyway with age , not too big a deal it can be disguised. Certainly buying some lovely new size 12 clothes has taken my mind off it.😀

Well thank you Diana 😊 it's not always easy for us maintainers to know what others want to hear... but we can only speak from our own experience I guess.
