Goodbye to fat, hello to being slim!

I presume that like me you are overweight?

If so, we have something in common!

The only difference may be that you have more weight to lose than me?

Well, on 08/08/18, I was weighed by my GP and I found that I weighed 14.4 stone and I'm 5ft 5 inches tall.

I'm tummy heavy and I would like to have a flat tummy again!

I would like to lose at least a stone by my birthday in 2019.

If you have a similar ambition perhaps we can work towards it together and see how we go?

Hi fatn51 and welcome

I'm sure all of us are here for the same reasons, to lose weight and / or maintain a healthier lifestyle.

We will all have that as a goal or ambition and as a community we all support each other with that.

Join in with as much as you can on here - pick a weekly weigh in day and join one of the group's, get involved in the daily diary to help plan what you eat and help count calories or participate in one of the many challenges that are on here too!

The world (and forum) is your oyster!

Hello and a very warm welcome 😊

First of all, please take a look at the Welcome Newbie Post here healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh... for advice about how they forum works and all the things we have on offer.

Having enough to eat is vital, if you are following the NHS 12 Week plan then the 1400 calorie target suggested is a just generic amount, so check your calorie target on the BMI checker, it’s often higher than you think.

Also try to come onto the forum regularly, daily if you can, reading posts and replying to others. Being part of a community is proven to help weight loss. Why not join our daily chat thread ‘What’s Happening Today? And tell us all a little about your day.

Best wishes and have a great first week

Indigo 😊

Yes i am 5’4” tall and close to the heaviest ive been before! Not weighed this week (tomorrows weigh in inpost) but am around 13st

Id like to lose 4 stone in total but ill settle for 2 stone by August next year as ive adopted a healthier lifestyle and want to make it sustainable this time rather than crash dieting!

Like steelad said, we are all here for similar reasons and are very supportive to each other. The daily diary can help you as you post your meal intentions for the day in there and people can help by offering alternatives or different points of view & the weigh in posts are there so that we can see how we are all doing and offer encouragement and motivation - sometimes its not all about the scale victories - it can be helpful to measure yourself and take a note of that too!

Good luck x

Hi, fatn51 I am obese and 69,

but I will be S11m and 70 (hence my username).

I intend to lose another one stone eight pounds before my "significant" birthday in 2019, and I am on track to do so, with months to spare, at one pound per week weight loss.

By Christmas I will be "overweight" rather than "obese" ...according to WHO/NHS BMI.

...by 26th March I will be in the "healthy weight band" according to SBMI.

Hi,

sorry it took me a while to reply.

I', still around the same weight I was 2 months ago.

How are getting on with your diet?

I hope you are making progress although it's difficult to do that especially now that it's the time when everything is focused towards EATING!!!

Anyway I hope you'll reach your goal in due course.

The main thing is try to stay focused and be patient with yourself as you learn to change and control what food you eat and the quantity.

I wish you all the very best.

I achieved my goal of being overweight (BMI <30) before Christmas.

Well done.

Do you feel better for it?

Yes, I feel much better, but the difference from one week to the next depends more on how much I walk.

I have HRV4Training, which quantifies fatigue, fitness, injury risk etc., and I am finding it helpful.

I walked 50km per week for two weeks, but, it seems, that was OTT, and I am now walking 3 to 5 km/day.

Excellent!

I'm really glad to know that the effort you made has changed the way you feel.

I do a bit of walking as well and though it is tiring

I feel much better than when I'm just sitting down and being inactive.

There is a happy medium for most things... I am not training for a marathon (but I was an endurance athlete, and, in 1995, I cycled 760 miles in 90 hours).

10,000 steps a day (about 7km) is not optimum for everybody, and, if one is to walk 50km a week, I think it is best not to walk the same distance every day.

I find that, if I am training "quite hard", it takes me one-third of the distance to work off the fitness of previous days, I fell good for the next third, and I start to feel I have done enough in the last third.
