Hi and welcome Joseph :)

Take a look at the Pinned Posts section, to the right of your screen (bottom, if you're using a mobile) and have a look at the Welcome Newbies thread.

Look at the Topics section beneath that, for posts that could answer any questions you may have. Consider joining any, or all, of our challenges, as they're fun and motivating.

Join us for the Monday Group weigh-in. If you follow Zest and myself, you'll be notified when we post the threads. The latest weigh-in thread can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page. You're not too late to add your starting weight to this week's thread :)

Be active on the forum, as that's where we exchange ideas and get our daily dose of motivation and inspiration.

Wishing you all the very best, as you start your journey :)

The most difficult step is the first one, so well done for that! 😊

In 11 months you can make a significant difference to your health as well as your weight 😊 I started out losing weight for my sons wedding last year but the success spurred me on to lose even more weight 😊

I was told by a dietician that a good initial target was a 10% loss, And that this makes a real difference to your health 😊

You have some good suggested links to look at from Moreless, checking your BMR and target calories is good too, as this is often more than you think. Having enough to eat and including favourite foods makes the whole process more enjoyable and less painful 😊

Good luck and very best wishes

Hi joseph2820 and welcome to this very friendly forum you have definitely come to the right place for motivation and advice.

I would recommend you look at the nhs12wk plan as this gives you a fantastic platform to work from and in turn should help your daughter too.

It's not a diet just clever hints and tips on tweaking your existing food, portion control, moving more and helping you establish a new healthier lifestyle for ever.

I've lost over 2 stone since the beginning of March by following the plan and joining in on here. Get involved in some of the challenges if not just take part in the Monday weigh in. Everyone is super supportive and is full of ideas to help you (and your daughter) on your journey to a happier healthier you.

Good luck.
