Hi ,just started today , so ok at moment long way to go so would be nice to know someone else in the same boat

Hi and welcome, Ruby :)

We're all in the same boat, so there will always be someone here to share the ups and downs with :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you.

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

Hi. Yes I've lost about 7lbs, but I have lots and lots to loose. I'm weighing and post on a Sunday, this week will be my 3rd weigh in,I try to keep away from scales other days. I use the my fitness pal app as a food diary but got lots of weight,bmi etc info NHS weight loss site. I look on here every day , its amazing what you get from realising there are so many others who struggle just like you do. Best of luck😁

Hi, welcome! I know at the start it seems like a long journey but if you set small goals the rewards are endless. Every time I buy a smaller size or see someone I haven't seen for a while it all feels worth it. I still have a long way to go. Let's do it together!!

Tag people in Ruby-1 so they get alerted to your reply. To do this type @then their name with no gaps then click to select from the drop down list that comes up. If it goes blue it has worked.

@EllaMidlands hi I having a lot of problems no idea how or where to put starting weight getting really fed up thought you could just write it down with your measurement and then weigh every week etc

Click on this link to open up the Saturday weigh in post. You have to post on the right thread to be counted in the statistics. Go there now, put your starting weight then next Saturday look for the new post and put your new weight and how much you have lost/gained

Welcome Ruby-1. Like janecad I also use MyFitnessPal it's an app you can download onto your phone or iPad/tablet. Search for it on the Apps store. It's really good and I find when I have to eat ready meals or packaged foods like sandwiches it's almost always on the app so I don't have to work out the calories. Good luck keep checking into the forum it really helps.

Hi Ruby-1

I joined on Thursday which is when I will be weighing in each week. I also signed up to the Happiness Challenge and did my first post last night. I got a lot of positive feedback from it which has given me a real boost of enthusiasm. I've never done anything like this before and I was a bit worried about it but everyone's been very welcoming and already I'm glad I've done it.

I've used My Fitness Pal but it wasn't very happy on my iPhone so now I'm using Lifesum. Only the basic app is free but it tracks my calories and water intake which is all I really need and it also has the really useful barcode scanner.
