New today

Hi, I just thought i would introduce myself, i am a new starter today. I am feeling a little daunted by it all at the moment. I have a few stone to lose and I am going to start it slowly, firstly by giving up the chocolate i eat on a daily basis. I don't really enjoy eating it, it has just become a habit. Also by introducing exercise to my life! My niece is getting married abroad in May 18, so that is my goal. I would love to wear a dress, which I havent done for many, many years. I look forward to meeting people on this forum and being supported and giving support, if I can.

Hi ZeldaMelda

Welcome to the weigh loss forum.

I know it can seem daunting at first but we are a friendly forum that is here to support you on your weight loss journey.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.

We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.

Have a good first week.

Rose

Welcome to the forum. I am losing weight for my wedding although my fiancé and I haven't set a date yet. I am following Slimming World but I am weighing in at my mum's house instead of going to classes because I am saving for my wedding and I am in the process of moving. I have lost 4lbs in the last 3 weeks. I like this forum and find it useful. I also like the support I get from other members as well as family and friends.

Thank you for replying. 4lbs in 3 weeks is a great weight loss, well done. I hope I can do the same, i am working on my will power to break bad habits. I look forward to seeing what i can achieve. I need the support of the forum to keep me going, as I tend to give up after a while.

Welcome to the forum ZeldaMelda and good luck on your weight loss journey. There are lots of good tips on the site and everyone is really supportive. I've a sweet tooth and I've found that if I buy a bar of plain chocolate with at least 70% cocoa and have a cube per day that's been enough to stop me craving. I did try to not buy any chocolate or biscuits but that ended in cravings, moderation being the key. As someone told me last week, small changes do make a lot of difference, here's hoping that you find something that will work for you, with the wealth of knowledge on the site I'm sure that won't be difficult. All the best.

Thank you for your advice, it is very helpful. I shall look through the site over the next few days. I agree that small changes work best, I have tried the tough road of changing everything at the same time, definitely not the way to go. Thank you for your support. All the best for your weight loss journey.
