I have just joined this forum today after having a wake up call from the dr after my diabetes check up... I have high cholesterol and for my height I am clinically obese ;-( I need a kick up the backside, does this programme work well for people?? I have done several diet clubs but seem to give in after a few weeks. x

Its working well for me so far. I've lost close to a stone in 3 weeks. Purely by reducing my calorie count to 1440.

Im not planning on loosing it that quickly from now on but I started off weighing 16st 5lbs so I as expecting the first few pounds to come off quick.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Hi Charlie

You might be interested in the low carb debate on Diabetes UK, if you haven't come across it before. Many people find that going low carb helps control diabetes and lower cholesterol levels, as well as losing weight.

Good luck.

NHS plan works really well for me..i am really surprised that by sticking to it so far i have lost around 5 pounds in 3 weeks, although it does not look like a lot i have not once felt like i am starving as the food that you eat based on the advice is actually quite filling... you just choose to eat better as a result :-) 3rd week was hardest but i am finding myself more and more in the routine for cooking healthy and being organised with my meals! i think this works because it does not really limit you to anything but asks you to be careful and make sure you stick to the limit! i think the fact that weight does not come down that quickly is actually good and for me it means that it is sustainable and i am not shocking my body by doing anything unnatural to it... :-) good luck with your loss!
