Hi guys! I'm new to this and I plan on starting the diet and exercise plan tomorrow morning and seeing where it goes from there. I hope that I have the motivation and dedicaiton to stick to it as I'm very uncomfortable with my weight at the moment. I had a baby four months ago and I've gained more weight now that I'm postpartum, than when I was actually pregnant and it sucks. But good luck to everyone on their journeys and may we all succeed
New Beginnings: Hi guys! I'm new to this... - Weight Loss Support
New Beginnings
Welcome to the forum. We are a super friendly supportive bunch. The more you give on here, the more you get back I have found. Good luck with your weight loss, you can do this! 🤞
Wow you are already doing well to be doing something about the way you feel when you have a 4 month old - congratulations by the way x I just started my plan today so good luck x
Hello HopefulPostpartum and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺ I'm sorry you are feeling uncomfortable especially at a time when you should be enjoying your new baby. I hope the forum is helpful ☺
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. This was a major turning point for me, realising I could eat anything I wanted as long as the calories are accounted for ☺
Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day if you wish to take part. The posts can always be found in the Events section on the 'home' page ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
Best wishes
Anna
I have to say that I piled on the weight post birth, despite barely putting on any whole pregnant - i think because I was constantly nauseous the whole pregnancy, then all the tea and cake with other mums was temptation I felt I deserved, and the sleep deprivation made me crave sugar. Plus there is evidence isn't there of healthy amounts of sleep supporting weight loss, and I definitely didn't get that for a while!! But you're here and that suggests a great attitude of wanting to look after yourself ☺️ Good luck!
It was the exact some for me! And I agree, lots of the baby groups that I go to offer cake (doesn't hep that i'm constantly making brownies and cookies for my partner to take to work, he's obsessed with them! The thing is, he has a high metabolism and I do not, especially not now). And the lack of sleep isn't great, but we prevail! The other thing is that I'm also a uni student and don't have any time to do that and get down to a gym, so I am hoping that the nhs plan is for me Good luck to you too, as I see that you are also a newbie!
I also used to pound the pavements getting my little one to sleep when he was around that age, so hopefully you find some ways to get out and about that don't feel as big an effort as gym? Maybe some of your new mum friends would enjoy a walk together and appreciate the endorphins too? God knows how you manage studying too! Hats off to you and be kind to yourself too while all those hormones flying around ☺️
Yeah at the moment, it seems to be walking to the doctors and to the local shops with the little one. But i do end up spending the majority of my week in the house sitting on the sofa all day. ahaha yeah, one of my mum friends and me walked the twenty minute walk to my local tesco, and the got there and ordered very fattening Coasta's ahahah bit counteractive I know! The other problem I'm having is that its super windy at the moment and my little one hates most weathers ahaha so I'm waiting for the sunshine to come out...we're nearly there! Plan on going to the park and having lots of healthy picnics and lots of running around with my siblings. To be honest, I can hardly believe I'm doing uni too, I feel like I'm going mad sometimes. And then theres the fact that I'm learning to drive too. Do you know what, looking at it all written out before me, I really do feel like I've taken on a lot. Enough about me, what about you? What do you do?
Yes picnics in sunshine with babies in the shade is the way forward, I miss those days! My little one is 2 1/2 now and I'm back at work full time 😁 We're lucky that we have family around, so he's with granny 2 days a week and my husband is part time, plus nursery. So I'm super impressed at you doing this now, I'm only just getting my life in a better rhythm now! How's the healthy eating going so far?
I know, I'm hoping to use it as a way of exercising without noticing aha. awh thats lucky, your support network is good! ahahaha thanks I just have a habit of putting myself down a lot at the moment, so I just thought to myself, I need to change this now before it gets any worse. As for the healthy eating, I've already gone over the 1400 calorie limit by 150 calories. So not a great start, but I really had no idea how many calories go in to one item. A lot. And as I made vermicelli tonight and added my own herbs and spices, I had to sit down and struggle to figure out how many calories the meal was altogether. However, It wasn't the savoury food that sent me over the calorie count, it was the fact that I just couldn't stop myself from indulging in a bit of brownie! How are you getting on?
