Fibromyalgia, but still giving it a go

Hello Everyone,

I am almost 54 years old and have been a fibro sufferer now for 6 years.

My weight gain is due to my not being able to move as freely as I did.

When I walk for exercise I spend the next few days in a lot of pain,

but I am determined to get fitter, I have to.

Hi Little_Voice

Welcome to the weight loss forum.

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side of the screen or if your on a mobile at the bottom. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.

Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.

Take your measurements at the start along with a photo so you can see the changes when the scales don't move.

We have weigh-ins every day so why not come and join us. You can find the weigh-in on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post and state your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.

To get the best out of the forum be active, share experiences, tips and recipes. Read some of the posts they can be very inspiring and motivate you along the way.

Have a great first week.

Hi Little_Voice and welcome.

If you type "fibromyalgia" into the Search facility, I think you'll find a number of relevant postings, including some quite recent ones.

Good luck!

Hello and welcome Little_Voice 😊

You are not alone in gaining weight due to health issues. But exercise is not essential to lose weight, it's about calories and portion control. Exercise has other benefits but needs to be gentle and balanced to avoid pain afterwards. 😊

Have a good look around the forum, especially at the links Rose suggested, and please ask if you have any questions 😊

Best wishes

Anna

I have the same problem with Osteoarthritis and (suspected Fibromyalgia) So I do Yoga as often as I can (usually at least once a week) and swim as much as possible (usually twice/week) - I can't go fast or far, but it is better than nought
