My confidence and self esteem are at rock bottom and I know I have to start looking after myself to start enjoying life again. Sorry I sound miserable, never used to be but funnily just writing this is helping. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully the start to a new me. Night night everyone x
Hello: So my first post hello. Just... - Weight Loss Support
Hello
Welcome! Thank you for joining our supportive group. Good luck on your journey. You can do this π€
Hi RuthR and welcome. Thank you for making the effort to post, that is a big step forward towards you enjoying your life again.
Please don't hate yourself. Now is the point where you are going to take control and as you say, it is helping just writing that post.
Later, one of the administrators will mention, amongst other things, the NHS 12 Week plan which I believe is a great way to get to grips with things. Everyone on this site is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly so feel free to post any thoughts, questions, worries at any time.
The 'tomorrow' that would be a new day, is now today and I wish you all the best.
Welcome Ruth. Many here have been right where you are now - feeling miserable and full of self-hatred because of weight problems. You are among friends β€οΈ We know what it is like. We know you can change it. And - best of all - we know how it can be done.
For me, the NHS 12 week plan really worked well - it gradually introduces healthy habits, focuses on calorie reduction and does not cut out any foods completely. Good luck with finding your way to a healthier, happier you.
Love yourself... hate bad food.
Accept yourself .. Don't accept unhealthy food.
Love your company who help you keep healthy
Disengage / delink from people who force you to overeat.
If this is rock bottom, then you can get a great liftoff from the Rock.
Take one step at a time and you will be on your journey..
All the best
Hi and welcome, Ruth
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
As soon as you begin to take control of your eating you will begin to feel better about yourself. You will be in control, you have the power to change what you don't like.
You ARE a strong person, be proud of yourself.
Hello and welcome Fatnowslimsoon π
Hello to the first day of the new youπ The sun is shinning where I am, I hope it is shinning on you as well, it always makes me feel more positive. You have had some lovely welcome messages Fatnowslimsoon already. You have joined a great forum where, as PippiRuns has already told you, you are among friends. I wish you the very best of luck on your journey downwards
Hello Ruth
I was near the obese end of the BMI barometer on 1st January. I too have had feelings of self loathing, guilt and self blame. You will get lots of helpful advice and support on this site. I started my weight loss journey by reading a book called Overcoming Weight Problems written by a nutritionist and psychologist. It is not a diet book but helps you understand the reasons behind being overweight and how to tackle this. Diets generally don't work in the long term. I have a weight loss plan based on eating less but healthily and moving more. I am on a mission to improve my health and it is for the long term - a marathon not a sprint. You have made a start and everyone here will be rooting for you. Good luck. Daisy
Fatnowslimsoon please don't hate yourself, that is such a negative emotion and will have huge repercussions on your well being, not least through the hormones that get released into your system.
Be pleased, pat yourself on you back, give yourself a high five for joining this forum. It is an amazing place full of such inspirational, motivational people. Everyone shares hints, tips, advice, and guidance but no one can make you do anything, nor will they try. We must all do it for ourselves in the right way for us.
Choose one thing to change, maybe a cupboard clear out of food that is no good for you, or cooking something from scratch each day.
Also look at the Happiness Challenge, one of the pinned posts, it is impossible to think negatively whilst doing this challenge, it is run by HealthyTanja and well worth doing.
Take care and enjoy your journey, you are responsible for making the journey enjoyable rather than miserable. I am sure you can do it.

Wow. You seem to be very down. Don't be so harsh on yourself. Look at the future and start taking care of yourself now. Good luck!!!! I am following your post and will see your good results!!!
Thank you so much everyone for your lovely encouraging words. I'm so pleased I made the first step by creating an account and tonight will be looking at the challenges and the 12 week plan. So sorry for sounding miserable I have to be a strong person at work and also looking after oldies but I'm now going to try really hard to getting my life in order I owe it to my fantastic family. Love to you all x
Yes and you owe it to yourself too, it can be so hard caring for others, leaves little time for the person doing the caring. By joining this forum you've taken the first step towards a healthier happier life . Look after yourself by giving your body lovely healthy food, fruit and vegetables which will nurture and sustain . Caring for yourself and putting your needs to the front occasionally will mean you have so much more to give to others xx
