Help please: Hello I'm 31 I have... - Weight Loss Support
Help please
Sorry, I've no idea what pseudohypoparathyroidism is! As with lots of medical conditions, it's probably sensible to talk to a doctor about what might help you to lose weight. We're all full of general tips and ideas on this forum, and will support and encourage you, but we're not medical experts, so I would hesitate to offer advice. Good luck with your weight loss though.
Hi kerry22mollie
Perhaps just kick into touch all processed foods and concentrate on real food, lean meat, fish, fruits like apples and berries plus loads and loads of vegetables and salad.
Check out the 12 plan here on the pinned posts, just run by your doctor first but I'm sure it will be a good way to start changing to a healthy eating plan.
You can join in our weigh in on Thursday, Friday or Sunday - there is space. Plus post lots, the more you join in the easier you'll find you'll reach your healthy weight goal. Good luck :). Xx
Hi, I have just googled your condition, I see one of the complications is weight gain. It sounds like a complicated condition to deal with. I see that you may have to follow a low phosphorous diet, so from my very limited understanding, you may have to be careful with some meat and fish also nuts and dairy. It is hard to give advice here when we don't really understand your condition and we wouldn't want to make your symptoms worse. I am sure it must be extremely frustrating and sounds a painful condition to have to live with. I think it would be wise to speak to your Doctor and see if they can refer you to a Dietician. We are a really supportive group and will support your weight loss journey, come back to us and tell us how you get on. I wish you the very best of luck.
Hello kerry22mollie and welcome to the weight loss forum ☺
You have had a very warm welcome from the members of the forum. As mentioned, we cannot offer any medical advice so please check with your doctor regarding any changes. However we can offer weight loss support ☺
The first place to look is at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you ☺
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news ☺
Have a look at the NHS 12 week plan, as many people have had success with it. Also use the BMI checker to find your target calories, it's important to eat enough. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate ☺
The forum also have group weigh-ins every day, but they are quite busy. If you wish to take part Sunday is the quietest day but you are welcome to join any day. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the 'home' page, or at the very bottom (after all the posts) on a mobile.☺
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too ☺
You'll notice a grey box next to people's names, these are achievement badges, and as a new member you may have a 'Newbie' badge. If you have any questions or would like a Newbie badge please just ask ☺
Best wishes
Anna
Wow for a second there I thought this post had been done by me! I'm also 31 and have pseudohypoparathyroidism... Wow that's not a word that rolls off the tongue is it? I've had it since I was 14 but was only diagnosed when I was about 18 I think? Maybe later. Doctors were slow. I'm also 4.10 (well...4.9 and a half if we're being technical) and weigh quite a bit more than you but recently (since March) I've been exercising more and eating between 1000 and 1400 calories a day unless it's a weekend. Lol. I can't seem to lose weight. It's such a pain. I know logically it's not helped by this condition but Eck! I'm right there with you. I also have psoriatic arthritis so double whammy. I'm trying, though. Thankfully the injections I take have helped my joints immensely.
