Hi there, I'm new to this group. I haven't got a massive amount to lose now, but would like to lose at least 10lbs and if possible 14lbs. I am on Beta blockers fro hypertension, been on them on and off since i was 18. I'm also at that awful menopausal stage, so I really have to keep an eye on my weight. I exercise at least 3 to 4 times a week and walk as much as I can. I'm on here for support really, as it's hard doing this on your own and I don't have time to join the local Slimming groups. I am a chocolate addict, which isn't good I know. I don't smoke, never have, but I like a drink now and then.

Chocolate addict, aye? Tell me about it! I've got a bit more weight to lose than you Mildred, and I'm having to dodge quickly round all the supermarket chocolate bar shelves, trying to evade temptation! Oooo, torture.

Chocolate is the devil's work! It's so delicious that I almost wish it didn't exist. But then, would life be worth living?
For me, there is no substitute for chocolate, so I just do without it when I am trying to lose weight.
When I'm maintaining, I don;t eat it very often, but every now and again I have a big bar of my favourite all to myself.
I've also stopped the wine - I find that even one glass makes me ravenously hungry, even if I've just eaten a big meal.
I think if you have only a few pounds to lose - I'm in a similar position to you, wanting to lose about 7lbs-10lbs - you do need to be pretty strict and weigh and measure everything quite carefully so that you don;t accidentally go over your calorie allowance. It's very tedious, but it does work. The menopause shouldn't stop you losing weight if you count your cals carefully.
