Hi, I'm Jo. My BMI is 28. I ran (kind of wobbled!) the London Marathon in 2016, but since then my beautiful Mum has died and I have taken comfort in eating - chocolate mainly, but generally grazing. I am now wanting to take control of my life and lose some weight. I don't really know where to start, but am after any healthy and tasty snack ideas.

Hi, sorry to hear about your mum. I can understand how terrible that must be. You can get control of this comfort eating and get back to running marathons. I can't give tips for snacking as apart from nuts and fruit I try to avoid snacking but I wanted to wish you luck on your journey.
Hi Jo, so sorry that you've lost your mum, I learnt what comfort eating was when I lost my wonderful, beautiful, loving mum back in 2002 and chocolate was a quick convenient and liked choice for me too. It takes time to learn to care about yourself when your world has been hit so hard... BUt well done for coming on here to look for support and suggestions to help you change to be healthier. I am sure your mum would be proud of you and really wouldn't want you to be sad for too long or make yourself unhealthy.
Take a look at the daily diary and see if your comfortable to join in... take your time to read the info YellowRose55 has offered.. It's all tried and tested for long term success.
Feel free to private message me if I can be supportive to you about your mum.. I don't have all the answers.. but can listen and support x
Cheering you on 🎉🎉🎉
Hi Jokerr21 losing a parent is very hard I am 10 years down the line and I miss her terribly but it has eased. I followed the same path as you hence my own membership of this wonderful forum. I try to schedule snacks to mid morning and afternoon and stick to fruit or nuts. I also come on here when I am tempted to pick and keep my fingers busy! Good luck 😀
I do feel for you, having lost your mum I too lost mine last year and all the time your trying to fill a bit of an empty void, I too grazed on choc snacks and probably more alcohol than I used to.
Everyones grief is different there are times I get very emotional and it still hits me, the firsts are always hard to get through, I to had the awful situation of the hospital ward where I worked closing and grief of losing good friends as we were all redeployed but Ive got stronger and you will don't rush and if you ever want to talk private message me
Just take time to love your self and you will be fine, if you just take one step at a time and make small changes healthy foods wilk help you emotionally heal
Take care and big hug.
