Addicted to chocolate

Ok so I've downloaded the app and tomorrow is the start of my healthier life regime.

I count myself as being very lucky that I haven't become massively overweight as I think nothing of eating my way through a 4 pack of Wispa's or Dairy Milk bars on a daily basis. I'm not sure of the drivers behind this but at the age of 46 have increased periods of heartburn and have decided to try and adopt a healthier lifestyle and lose a bit of weight.

I was 10st 6lb when I got married 20+ years ago and now weigh in at 12st 6lb. I'll let you know how I get on.

Hi and welcome, Chocaddiction :)

Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread, then move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you, especially the Sugar Free for March challenge, to help with your chocolate addiction :)

Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news.

Take a look at the 12 week plan, as a lot of people have been successful with it, making sure to enter your details into the BMI calculator, to get a calorie allowance tailored to your personal requirements. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate.

We run daily weigh-in's and you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.

We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too.

It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey :)

Same here I eat chocolate every day. I'm going to go cold turkey and cut it out, I'm addicted to the sugar rush. My goal weight is 10st I'm 11st5lb at the moment and am breastfeeding a 9 month old. Really stuggling to shift it!

Good luck, I'm doing well so far but it's only day one 😉 I'm finding it helps being here just for hearing about others who are the same and getting words of encouragement 👍🏻

Hi I am also addicted to chocolate! I have comfort ate it for so long it has just become a habit. I am happier in my life now but still eating a bar every day and more at weekends, until last week. The British Heart Foundation is doing a fundraiser called Dechox where you dont eat chocolate for 30 days. After finding this out I thought about it and decided if I can go a week without then I can go for 30 days, hoping that it would help me break the habit. This is my 11th day without and I can honestly say there has only been one instance where I craved it! I wanted a chocolate wafer and ice cream and when it dawned on me there actually was chocolate on it, I nearly cried haha. I need to lose 4 stone and have lost 3lb in 11 days so that is a huge positive for me. I think you just need to set yourself small targets, ie no choc for 1 day, 2 days, 1 week etc. Willpower and a belief I can do it and beat the urge seems to be working for me, so far. Good luck to you, you can do it!

Well done you. I'm not depriving myself of chocolate completely as I think I'm probably setting myself up for failure. I can eat a kit Kat chunky 4 pack on the bounce without any trouble so I'm just avoiding buying anything like that. I've not had any today though and feeling strong 😊

Good for you, just one day at a time 😊

Hi Chocaddiction I used to be addicted to chocolate, the family bars were my daily routine, 2 or 3 bars 🍫🍫🍫 a day back in the '80's, until my sister pointed out that they affected my mood and I'd become aggressive if I didn't have chocolate!! Im not naturally an agressive person.. I worked to cut down and stop having the chocolate daily and eventually I could take or leave it. My sister was grateful as my mood settled back to normal!! I seriously had no idea what some foods/addictions can do! Wishing you well with your life changes... they are worth it. The weight will drop off and you will save some serious pennies that you can treat yourself to something special when you reach your goal 🎉!! Have a great weekend.
