Hi I am male, 60 and weigh over 18 stone. I am over 6ft and broad, so can carry some weight but I really need to get at least 4 stone off. Used to do 2 hours in the gym every day and cycle 30+ miles on Sundays but that has stopped, so need to get that back on but the body aches now and motivation is low. I do go for 4 mile fast walks 2 or three times week and eat reasonably healthily. Doctor has told me I don't eat enough???? Yogurt and muesli for breakfast, mini baguette with filling for lunch and maybe an evening meal, but often not....lots of fruit...which I know is not good. So any advice/motivation would be greatly appreciated.

Wow, you really don't eat much. No wonder you have no energy and motivation to move. Have a look at how much you should be eating. Good luck
mellewis, you need to check out the pinned posts for Newbies. Work out your BMI then work out how many calories you should be eating in order to lose weight, I would think at least 2000. If you're on your own and don't like cooking in the evenings, all the supermarkets do calorie counted ready meals. You should eat three meals a day. Fruit is not bad for you, don't know where you heard that! And on top of your three meals, it will help you reach your calorie target. Also nuts are energy giving and calorie rich, great for snacking. Download the NHS 12 week plan, and follow that, it's full of good advice. Use MyFitnessPal to log your food/calories and your exercise. Keep visiting this forum, it's full of helpful advice and support. We're here for you.
Thanks for reply Tubbyteacher....Was told by the doctor that I should swap fruit for veg as there is too much fructose in fruit. Downloaded the plan and have the app on my phone. Think I get bored as I work from home a lot and am on my own, so tend to stop for a tea or coffee and I rarely drink water. Doctor also told me I need to eat more as my body thinks it is being starved so goes into shock and lowers my metabolism!
Hi mellewis and welcome to the Weight Loss forum.
