So I've just begun working out again after a really depressing couple of years. I'm 23 years old and at 5"6 I'm 15 stone on the dot. This is the heaviest I ever want to be. I want to go back to a healthy range of about 10-11 stone.
I have a home gym with an exercise bike, weights and a bench. So far this week I've done about 20-30 minutes of intense cardio on the bike once a day, then 20 minutes of weights every other day.
I was wondering if anyone had any tips for helping keep spirits high and anything that helps with home workouts? I'd like to lose this weight by the end of 2017.
You are young with your whole life in front of you......So much to look forward to and memories to make......look forward to a new you in 2017, do it....!
You are so fortunate to have a home gym! To have all the tools at your disposal. I have found such benefits from walking: just getting out the door and putting one foot in front of the other. Initially I followed this technique: set my phone alarm for 10 minutes. I would walk one way until the 10 minutes were up and then back home. After that was comfortable, I increased the time to 15 minutes. Before I knew it I was going walking an hour a day. I also tried to do this first thing in the day before I got destructed with the day's activities.
Yeah my partner and I built up a tiny gym to use together, he is underweight though so primarily uses the weights. It cost a reasonable amount but it doesn't get in the way.
Music! I just bang on something with a good beat and get on it. I found with cycling or walking at gym was great for watching good tv shows. Find a new show on kodi (blacklist, walking dead and west world recommended) then you're so busy watching it you forget you're working out. You can do it x x
Good reply 👍I find music fantastic for lifting my moods which can vary greatly, usually I will put something on with a fantastic beat that gets me wanting to move like Bon Jovi / rock ballads or when I want to relax it will be a more soothing tempo. Also I find producing something ( craft work ) helpful and you see a product you have achieved yourself. Looking on the productive and positive side. Best wishes Bev

I weighed myself Friday to find I've dropped 2 pounds! Feeling a bit more determined. 14st 12lbs rather than 15st.
