Hi, I'm in my sixties and about 2 stone overweight. I've just finished week 3 of the weight loss programme. I've kept within the calorie intake apart from two days and massively upped my exercise levels from virtually nothing to 120 minutes a week on an exercise bike and a weekly four mile walk. The first week I lost 4lbs but have lost no weight the last two weeks, although overall I have lost an inch on my waist and hips. Any ideas?

Inches lost but little weight loss
Hi and welcome, Lizzie
Did you get a personal calorie allowance, taking into account your increased exercise? Eating too little can be just as detrimental to weight loss, as eating too much. Why not log onto the Daily Diary, so that we can see exactly what you're eating and then we may be able to offer advice.

Sorry - I thought I'd replied to you yesterday but couldn't have pressed the button! Thank you for all this advice and info which I'll spend time perusing. I do think that I'm probably not eating enough as a lot of days, I struggle to reach my original recommended calorie intake and hadn't considered the impact of the exercise on the calorie intake. I certainly can't fault the amount of info and immediate support I have received. Thank you.
Hello Lizzie28 , that sounds very frustrating. Thinking back, when I started I lost 5lb in the first three weeks but nothing off my waist and it's still not budged much, though I can see how much I have changed shape.
Moreless has given you a good tip about reassessing your calorie need now you're more active. I found mine was well above what I expected, and eating within that range - the middle to upper end - has helped me settle on a steady loss of just under 1lb a week, which I'm happy with. Check with the NHS BMI calculator and don't be tempted to undereat.
Good luck
You will lose more. Keep doing it and it will happen, I promise. Lots of fabulous advice here in these boards. Some weeks I would lose a lot like that, then not so much, then a lot again. As long as you eat less than you utilise in energy, you will lose weight. Good luck!
Lizzie, that’s a great start, if weight loss was easy we wouldn’t be posting. You are probably building up muscle which has got to be a good thing. Just carry on, perhaps switch up the walking - add a few more miles.
I’m a very new newbie. Just starting to navigate around the site. Thanks for letting me know 😊

Don't worry, practice makes perfect and in a few days you'll be whizzing around like an old hand
