In September I started exercising 5 times a week, early October I started moderating my calorie intake and now I'm trying to make healthier food choices. So far seeing weight loss but not inch loss.
Hello, newbie here: In September I... - Weight Loss Support
Hello, newbie here
Hi sound like you are doing great I'm also new what kind of exercise are you doing ? Where are you not losing inches ?
I went for a gym induction, was told interval Cardio was best for weight loss as your body becomes efficient at a constant speed/resistance and was given a kind of 20 min test on the treadmill to determine my plan and starting speeds.
The plan I was given is 30mins on treadmill using a 2 speed setting: brisk walk to warm up, then 3 mins jogging, 1 min walking, 3 min jog, 1 min walk etc . . . at a comfortable pace that allows you to continue until the end (ie speed where I could continue talking to the trainer).
I was disappointed at first as I couldn't run or walk as fast as I used to, but every time I go I'm able to run faster so I go further in the 30mins. I do this 3x weekly and 30mins strength training 2x weekly
My friend lost weight using the 'NHS Couch to 5k' podcasts which are easier if you are new to jogging or are going to run outside where you can't time the intervals.

Hi and welcome to the forum
This week I maintained weight but hadn't measured myself for 3 weeks and was surprised I had lost inches
Wishing you all the best on your journey
Healthier food choices will benefit greatly. Counting calories is great but the wrongs ones really do not assist. A balance diet is key. The Groups MoreLess pointed out would be were should start. You'll find this forum super supportive, keep asking any questions . Good luck on your path.
Thanks but I guess my post was misleading-I'm not counting calories, just being sensible with portion sizes in evening and asking myself do I really need those biscuits or am i just bored/stressed? These were the cause of my slow weight gain. I'm also trying to get into the habit of making a salad the night before rather than a quick sandwich before work.
Do you have any suggestions for increasing protein intake (I don't like nuts or eggs) and I realise I should be eating protein as well as fruit for snacks.
Meat and fish are the best which includes skinless chicken. If it is for snacking wrap a good cut of cold meat around some veggies or just make it with a slice of slim cheese. Any veggies you like wrapped and cut ready to nibble on at any time. Take to work or on the run. Air popped popcorn corn is with nothing added for a snack to nibble. Salads are awesome try for the oil and vinegar dressing. Eggs are protein make some in the morning before you leave, use some cheese to flavor with spices you like scramble. I know you said you do not like them, give them a shot with herbs or very spicy. Now that the weather is changing soups made chili's with meats or chicken.
Thanks that's great advice about wrapping with chicken slices!
Do you think veggie omelettes would be good for snacks (the only egg I can tolerate as I use sooo much veg to mask egg taste and texture) would they keep well for taking to work?
Isn't oil higher in calories than 'light' salad cream or is it better because it has vegetable protein?
