Hi Ally_33,

I would suggest having a read of the Welcome Newbie post - it has lots of great tips and suggestions from members past and present, and it will help you orientate your way to things that people enjoy and participate in on the forum. It's in the Pinned posts area - right-hand-side of the homepage (or at the bottom of the screen if you're accessing via a mobile device).

I'd also recommend using an app to help you to keep a log of your food and drink intake, the types of things people use are listed in the recent poll that we did - the most popular in the poll appears to be Myfitnesspal (MFP) and it's really useful, plus it's free to use, if you use the basic version of it.

Join us in the Monday group weigh-in, if you fancy a weekly weigh-in in a supportive group - there are lots of Challenges going on in the forum too, and you'd be welcome to join in with anything you like the look of.

Enjoy your time in the forum, and don't hesitate to ask if you need any help.

Lowcal :-)

Write every single thing that you eat with its calories next to it - I find it absolutely invaluable

Hi and welcome _ Zest has given you great advice, but from one newbie to another I would say have a good look around the forum, get yourself organised (Ie check your contents of your cupboards and freezer and decide what you can eat and those items that will not be consumed by you but the rest of the household)

Plan your meals and snacks for the next few days and try and allocate time to increase your activity, whether that be walking a little more or a run or gym session (for me it was increase the walking and to try and find some exercise to do at home ) make sure you plan some time each day to increase your activity :)

wishing you all the best on your journey

Onwards and downwards :)

Edited to add - take your measurements - this week I stayed the same weight wise but found in 3 weeks I had lost 5" around my waist :0 so still motivation to keep going :)

What an amazing loss on your waist! Fantastic and well done. I find it hard to exercise now I'm leaving and returning home in the dark. I must look into what I can do at home 😊

Hello and welcome to the forum. My tip is to have mini targets - trying not to think of your weight loss goals as total e.g. 2 stone. My target is to lose 1 lb next week. If I think of my total weight that I need to lose it is disheartening. I wish you luck and determination 😀

Good luck with your weight loss. I try and make good choices every day and rather than focus on the long haul keep my thoughts in the day and like nteapea have my next pound as a goal. How are you getting on?
