The best place to go to get a diagnosis is your GP. If you aren't sure how to do this, mention it to your carer and ask to have an appointment made for you. No one on here can provide you with a diagnosis as we really do not know you. Your GP on the other hand has your medical history and can give you an examination and have an abundance of resources. Shaking and stiffness are so common with lots of different conditions that it would be impossible to have any idea what is going on. It may be something very simple it might not be.

Please make that appointment.

I have essential tremor. My advice is to avoid peas when eating out, unless you also have mashed potato to stick them to. Have you had anything diagnosed?

Hi Saffybell,

I'm afraid I can't help directly but I have just googled "Dystonia" and found there is a Dystonia Society which, I believe, offers online and telephone support. If you are enquiring more about getting practical suggestions for living with the symptoms of this condition rather than getting medical treatment or a diagnosis (definitely in the realm of the medics), then maybe you would get some good suggestions here. I have a medical condition too, although not the same as yours, and have found an online forum such as this to be invaluable; sometimes fellow sufferers can offer very real practical and emotional support at times when no-one else can even begin to understand what you are going through. Hope this helps. Good luck x

You're very welcome Saffybell; let's hope you stay well. It's a bit like living with a time bomb sometimes when you get news like that, but I always say live from day to day and hope for the best. Gets me through most things. This is such a great community; feel free to dip into it and make a post or several whenever you want even though we're probably about as much use to you as a chocolate tea pot! x
