Hey guys just thought I would to introduce myself.ย
I've just joined and as you all seam like a nice friendly bunch it would be nice to get to know you ๐
I've decided enough is enough and I want to change my life. Yes I am seriously overweight and very unfit so it's time to change that. I am feeling motivated and positive about this ..... Which normally only lasts a few days but I have been eating far more healthy, drinking 2liters of water a day and exercising in the form of cycling for 4 weeks and it's starting to pay off I've lost 10lbs so far.ย
I look forward to getting to know youย
Speak soonย

Hi Caroline- that's fantastic ๐ bet you're feeling great. ย I started the 12 week plan and although it takes some willpower, I'm determined to see some light between my legs:). Whatever you do, keep going......I think how many times I've let myself down and then around 4 weeks later think I could be on track now. ย Keep going with cycling, you can do it, think 2 weeks from now and so on.....๐
That's exactly what is keeping me going. As I have seen a change it is keeping me motivated. I've bought a Fitbit to keep an eye on my steps making sure I can do the 10,000 a day and bought a few workout DVDs for my days off I'm not confident enough to step into a gym yet. Think everyone would point and laugh. Which I'm sure they wouldn't just my own self confidence holding me back there. Maybe when I've dropped a dress size or two I can step into a gym!!!ย
I'm sure you will keep motivated too and see that light soon!!! ย ๐
Well done with what you're doing.ย I just want to say that although gyms can seem intimidating and appear to be full of slim fit energetic people who might regard us larger people with contempt, my experience has been quite the opposite.ย Those slim fit energetic people know just how hard it is to get that way and maintain it.ย They understand the effort involved in creating regular gym habits and it is rare in my experience for anyone to belittle the fact that you are making the effort.ย The few comments I have got have always been from people who have noticed a change over a number of weeks and give positive feedback - have you lost weight?ย or,ย you're looking really good.ย This is so encouraging.
I think as well that most people are so concerned that other people will notice their own perceived inadequacies that they don't have space left over for criticising other people!
If you fancy that route, find a gym whose ethos suits you and give it a whirlย I joined the local Virgin Active gym which has a "all people, every level of fitness welcome" attitude and thoroughly enjoy zumba and body conditioning classes, swimming, and weight training
This is so good to hear. Like I say I know it's all in my head but until I feel a bit more comfortable with myself I just won't enjoy going and I probably won't go lolย
You're doing everything right, remember it's for you and how you feel, no one else! ย Why don't you visit a gym just to get the feel of it? ย I've never been so can't help you, but recommend couch to 5k๐
I have never run in my life, hated it before, but am genuinely loving this, it's very good! ย Best thing is you can do it at your own pace repeat weeks and build it up. ย If you do go ahead my advice would be to get some good shoes! ย I love going out early morning ๐
Well done on losing 10lbs! Wow! ๐ That's really good. Well done on the cycling, I have recently bought an exercise bike a would love to get out on a proper bike ride one day ๐
Like you, I hope to have made permanent changes to my lifestyle, food and activity ๐ Life is looking so much better from where I am now ๐
I used to have a bike when I worked in Greece so I decided to hop back on one. Surely it can't be that hard. How wrong was I lol ย Went out in Tuesday for a ride, I set myself a goal to hit by the end of the week. As I am on holiday this week and I did it on Tuesday. Just a short ten mile bike ride. Going to try to do the same tomorrow. See if I can get quicker....fingers crossed the sun stays out!ย
I don't know if you've had a chance to look at our Welcome Newbies thread yet, but it's well worth a read and can be found in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen. In the same place, you will find various fun and motivating challenges and a thread full of delicious recipes, compiled by Lowcal
I would also like to invite you to join us at our monday group weigh-in. It's friendly, non-judgemental and extremely supportive. It's normally run by our own dear Lowcal, but she's on holiday at the moment and Prin will be doing the honours on monday. The thread will be found in the events section to the right of the home page.
Wishing you continued success and looking forward to following your progress
Hi Caroline, motivation can come and go but the support on here can keep you going. 10lb is awesome and how much I've lost so far too. I felt like you about the gym but have just gone for it as my health is more important than what others think and they're probably not thinking what I think they are anyway lol! But do understand and you're doing cycling so keep going with that as it's working!! You've inspired me to drink more water and I pledge to start doing that this week!! Thank u x (p.s does slimline tonic water with gin count lol!)
I know I'm sure people wouldn't point and laugh and I'm sure if I went with someone I'd feel less conscious but I'll keep going on my own see how far I can get then hopefully get into a gym and a swimming pool!!! ๐๐ฝย
You'll get there I'm sure! My bike's getting rusty in the garage lol...I used to go with someone but that fell by the wayside. Anyways I hope you have a very good first week here ๐x
Hi angel4031. 10lbs in 4 weeks is a great loss, it's taken me 7 weeks to lose that much. I do DVD's at home as I don't seem to find the time to get out to the gym. ย I think I have every Davina one she has made! Dusted them off recently and found the weights at the back of the wardrobe. ย Hope that will help to increase weight loss and tone me up. I have found everyone on here to be so friendly and supportive that I am sure it has contributed to me sticking to the plan. ย Stick with it and I am sure you will healthy and fitter in no time
That's funny I was only looking at her DVD yesterday - 3 minute belly blitz. Think it would take more than 3 minutes to blitz my muffintop! I did look at some video of it and I thought it looked quite good. ย She was on This Morning the other day and looked fantastic. But then she is about half my age and has not had 2 children (that's my excuse anyway). Good luck with it and let us know how you get on.
Hi Caroline. I have found this site really helpful and whenever you are not in the right frame of mind to stick to your new eating and exercise routine I am sure you will be offered all the support you need to help you through. Welcome and the very best of luck.ย
