Hello, I am halfway in my first week and it's going well so far. I would like to hear from people who have finished their first week or halfway through the programme. I would just like to see what kind of weight loss I should expect each week. Thank you.

Hi Water_baby
Welcome to the weight loss forum.
Well done with staying on track so far on your first week. It is hard to be able to say what kind of weight you can lose on your first week as everyone is different and we all lose at different rates. Just keep going and you will get there!
Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the Pinned post section at the right hand side or at the bottom if your on a mobile. Have a look at the nhs 12 week plan, many members have had success following this plan. Use the BMI checker to work out your daily calorie allowance.
Have a look at the Daily Diary which you can find on the Home page in Events. It is where all the members are sharing their daily plans on what they are eating and any exercise they are doing. This thread will give you some ideas on how to start.
Below the Pinned posts are the Topics where members share a range of weight related subjects.
Take your measurements at the start together with a photo so you can see the changes on the days the scales don't move.
We have daily weigh ins so why not come along and join us today. You can find the weigh ins on the Home page in the Events section on the right. Just click on the post in Events and record your start weight and any loss/gain or maintain for the week.
To get the most of the forum be active, share tips, recipes and experiences. Read some of the posts they are very motivating.
Have a good first week.

Hi Water_baby and welcome. Well done on getting through your first half week. Here's to the next half.
Like Rose has already mentioned, different people lose at different rates. In the 7 months I've been here I've seen people lose a lot to start with or none at all. In my case I went through a period of not losing anything for a while even though nothing had changed. Some weeks are perplexing and some pleasantly surprising. Our bodies don't appear to want to fall into any patterns or follow any rules.
If you do follow the NHS 12 week plan and keep to the calories that the BMI calculator supplies you then I can tell you that in the long run you will get to where you want to be.
Best of everything!
Hi water_baby. I lost 4 lbs first week and nothing the next. Get in to a routine and keep it going. Try new foods and recipes and you will enjoy it. You can still have meals out and eat food you like. It is all a matter of moderation and learning to balance the books. If you go over your calories one day, cut back accordingly the next. You will also find that some foods affect your weight loss more than others. Over the weeks you will find out what works best for you. We are all very different.
I hope you have a good result on the scales, but if it is not what you expect; keep going. You will get to your preferred and healthy weight if you really want to.
Hi there. I started at the end of June and have lost an average of a pound a week. Losing a small amount each week means you're more likely to keep it off.
Good luck on you're journey
morning water baby....
I have just completed my 2nd week. I honestly think it depends how much you have to lose. I have a lot...7 stone...so I expected a big loss the first week and I got 6lbs...this week I got 3lbs but I am thinking 1lb is doable so I think as long as I lose that its all good
Well done on doing well the first week. Honestly these posts and encouragement on here goes a long way in helping...so keep with it
Hi and all the "best of British Luck"!
I lost half a stone before enrolling in the NHS 12 Week Weight Loss Plan already. Once I joined I stuck to a 1400 calorie diet ... more or less, eating less when I went over that mark on another day. I didn't lose any weight for the first two weeks or so but I did lose inches around my waist. My stomach was like a mill stone around my neck, weighing me down and stopping me from doing things so this contraction was extremely beneficial to me. It also meant that my stomach was shrinking, causing me to want less food. In the third week I suddenly lost half a stone over five days or so. It was like a miracle to me. As they say, patience is a virtue.
I don't want to contend medical advice but I have found fasting to be my personal key to success. I have one proper meal in a 24 hour period, then fast until my next meal the next day. I have fasted before for religious reasons and have found that it changes my world outlook and helps me to rise above material values, which include dietary "must do's". This, I have found, controls my cravings more than anything. People diet for various reasons, some for medical reasons, some for vanity. I have found retreating to my religious experience of fasting to be the most effective way of controlling my calorie intake. It also helps me to face the medical challenges which I will invariable need to face due to my age and vocation.
Good Luck again and God Bless !
Thank you to everyone that has replied, your posts have been very reassuring during my first week of this 12 week plan. I am pleased that the end of my first week I have lost 2lbs and 4 inches off my waist which I am happy about. See what week 2 brings!
