This is the 'Afternoon/Evening Session' of the Fab 5'ers Monday weigh-in group, so please post in this thread if you're weighing in with us this afternoon and/or this evening!
The Morning Session has gone really well, and please have a look at the thread if you want to catch up with how everyone is doing there:
To all you Afternoon and/or Evening Monday Group weighers - I wish you an enjoyable weigh-in. One of the Fab 5'ers (Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner, Moreless and myself, Lowcal) will ensure we respond to you. But please be patient with us, as we do have other commitments and might not be able to reply straight away. By the end of the day, everyone will have received a response from one or more of us.
I have compiled our stats from last Monday's thread, which makes great reading:
Total people posting on last Monday's thread: 128.
Total overall weight lost: 113.05 pounds (51.28 kilos).
Total people who lost weight: 66 (134.39 pounds lost) (60.96 kilos).
Total people who gained weight: 16 (21.34 pounds gained) (9.68 kilos).
Total people who maintained their weight: 14.
Total people starting out on their weight loss journey/plan: 25.
Total people who didn't disclose their weight gain/loss: 7.
If you're joining this weigh-in group thread for the first time today, then welcome. Just introduce yourself and share your starting weight (if you feel comfortable to do so) and your initial weight loss goals - setting yourself mini-goals leading to your ultimate weight loss goal is particularly helpful. You could also make a note of your body measurements - sometimes the scales stick at a particular weight, but there can be body measurement changes which are very motivating. It's not all about the scales afterall - it's how you feel in yourself.
You can always refer to previous weigh-in threads if you want to see what other people typically post (just click on my profile, Lowcal, and you'll be able to see a list of all previous posts which are all clearly dated).
The Fab 5'ers (myself, Prin, Suzybenj, Ruth_Canal_Runner and Moreless) will ensure that anyone who contributes to this thread will have a response from one or more of us at some point in the day.
Regarding my own weigh-in, many of you will know that I was away in London enjoying a city break last week, and I did over-indulge as a result of that, but also enjoyed lots of walking and sight-seeing, so it was a nice balance, and I did try to make healthy choices as much as possible. Anyway, I gained 1.8 pound during the week, and so I’m 13 stone 0.8 pound today. I will work hard to ensure I get back below 13 stone for next Monday – I would love to be back in the 12’s again! So I’ll do my best to get there.
Wishing you all success with your goals, and hope you have a great weigh-in.

Week 1 done, dropped from 100.2 kg to 98.4 kg, so 1.8 gone ... Mostly in sweat ! ... Did a lot of Bikram yoga - so am also feeling more flexible .. Only had wine once, so all is good.
Hi everyone, I haven't been behaving v well this week, I can't get a grip on my hunger. I'm eating now 1300 cals rather than 1200 but go over at least 3 days a week. Also I have actually ordered a dvd on Friday and actually have been doing half an hour cardio since then. My weight went up to 10st 8 during the week but now back to 10st 7. Which is still the same weight as last week. But I know my mistakes, I'm going to change my diet now and have boring chicken/veg for dinner. Well done to everyone who lost weight!
Lowcal - u deserved a break, I'm sure Ul do v well as u have been doing, good luck!
I don't know how tall you are, or what age you are, but I don't understand why you were eating 1200 cals and have only increased to 1300 cals. Have you entered your details into the NHS BMI calculator, to get an idea of the number of calories you should be eating? If you're always hungry, I would suggest you're not eating enough and then in desperation, maybe you're reaching for things that are off plan.
You should also not be resorting to boring chicken and veg, you don't have to look far to find a miriad of exciting, calorie counted recipes to tickle your taste buds and satiate your hunger.
This is not a diet to be endured for a few weeks, this is a change of lifestyle, to be followed for the rest of your life. It needs to be easy and more importantly, it needs to be enjoyable
I'm sure that if you eat the right amount of calories and continue with your exercise, you'll see a healthy, steady weight loss
Hi moreless. I'm 5ft 3. Aged 30. I ate on only 1200 cals in a desperation bid to lose weight as it worked before. Didn't work this time as ur right hunger got the better of me and made wrong choices. I went on bmi calculator last week as u suggested and it gave me 1310 -1685cals.
Initially when I started this plan I had 1400 cals a day but actually put on weight,(prob cos I didn't do exercise). I think I might try and stick to 1400 this week and continue with the exercise. I will also try to search for more healthy recipes too online (I'm not that a good cook lol and what with two kids I don't have time to cook much)
Thanks so much for ur reply. (Btw I didn't ur weigh in, do u take part in morning?)
Your weigh-in wasn't disastrous Moreless - you are doing really well. You effectively lost 3.5 pounds over two weeks, which is brilliant! You are doing really well.
Il have a look at the other sites today thanks. U lost 5lbs last week, some of that must have been true weight loss. Wouldn't say it's disastrous, just a little hiccup lol. Moreless - I went back to mfp and put my details in there and too. It sets me back to 1200 cals I think that's y I keep on going back to that. Will try with 1400 cals again. Weight warrior lol ur very welcome to come round, would be nice to be around like minded people!
Hi roseanna, Well I had a look at my history of calorie intake over the past couple of months. It seems that I have the best intention to eat 1200 cals but often I end up eating more to about 1400 cals. Only in Dec I managed to stick to 1200 cals. I think as moreless mentioned I stay hungry during the day and can manage but then at night time I get hungry and eat whatever I can find. So I'm going to focus on eating healthily this week and doing 30 mins exercise each day!
Woohoo John! WTG you! All that domestic upheaval and hard graft have done wonders for the weight loss! I bet you've lost inches as well, but I'm pretty sure you're not going to have lost another 1st 3lbs by next monday
Keep up the good work and many thanks to Sainsbury's
Ha Ha ! Rushing things a bit I did mean 16-7lbs Yes all the stress of moving plus the fact that our cooker was not connected until Saturday morning so after looking at the calories in the ready meals curry and rice (around 850!) I decided to enjoy salads all week for lunch and most dinners and porridge for breakfast! All very tasty and obviously worked wonders so I am hoping for a repeat this week Have a great week everyvody, just off to Aldi to stock up on fruit and veggies !!
Wow, that's really great! Congratulations on losing 2 pounds. I hope you've enjoyed your first week, and it's great to hear you're feeling really delighted. A lovely feeling to have!
hi Lowcal and all Lowcal, glad you had a nice break away and I'm sure you'll have that small gain off in no time!
I'm finally starting to feel myself again and getting out in the fresh air just got back from an almost 8&1/2k walk with my dog and its lovely and sunny here today - people were probably wondering why I was pounding along smiling but I was really happy to be out again!
I forgot to weigh in last week but I'm really pleased to report a loss of 4&3/4 pounds since 2 weeks ago so am now at 17st9&3/4 still up but going in the right direction
What a comeback! Can I call that 2 and an eighth for the weekly stats though - as that's half of your 2 weeks loss? Hope that's okay. Its great to feel more upbeat when out and about - perhaps its the effect of the weather warming up! Keep striding along and good luck for the week ahead
Afternoon Lowcal. I think 1.8 pounds on is good considering you had a week away? We have to have a break sometimes I have lost 1.2 pounds. I am pleased with that as I felt dizzy and strange a couple of afternoons and I do panic and eat sugar when that happens. I have bought some little packets of nuts from Aldi and will snack on those in the afternoons, to keep me upright in the evening. Now I'm riding and running in the evenings, it's a long time from lunch until dinner!
I know exactly what you mean with those sugar lows. I also turn to nuts ( in the past it was nuts plus sugar plus chocolate) - but also bananas are great - if you like them? Hope you keep making progress with getting the balance right. And enjoy your running & cycling!
I almost forgot to say - congrats on an excellent hard earned 1.2lb loss too!
Hello! My first week posting to this, but I've been dieting for a year now. I've gradually lost a stone as I have been quite lenient with it. But I'm cracking down now!
So onto the figures, I've lost 3 pounds this week. So I'm down to 164lbs. My BMI is at 24.9 so I'm finally in the healthy range (only just) which is a great motivation to keep going!!
Hey strugglingsarah - sounds like you're not struggling anymore - wow 3lbs! Amazing to be just within the healthy bmi range too. Lots of luck for achieving your end goal - sounds like you're doing ace, even if things have felt slow up til now. Lots of luck for the week ahead
Hi janeybrass - was it your birthday - if so many happy returns! Glad the gain is only small - do you mind revealing how much you've gained so we can include it in our stats? Amazing to hear you're regaining strength too. Wow after 12 weeks in a wheelchair! That's a long time, it must feel hard getting moving again - but slow and steady is the way to go. I hope you're enjoying the process and feeling stronger everyday. Wishing you all the best for a full return to your former strong self, and for the weight loss you're hoping for
Wishing you many Congratulations on your 50th Birthday at the beginning of the month. Having several small celebrations sounds great.
Wishing you the best this week regarding your mobility, and also good luck with being kind to yourself. We can often be kind to others, but like you say, being kind to yourself isn't necessarily the strong point, but definitely give it a go!
Glad you've been looking forward to weighing in today. That's especially good as you've got such a great result - losing 2.5 pounds, Congratulations!!!
Hi folks. After a dodgy "sneaky peek" weigh in a few days ago which showed a 2 pound gain (shock, horror!), I'm pleasantly surprised to say I am now showing a 2 pound loss for this week - hooray! It's kind of horrible to think that my leg swelling must contain anywhere up to 4 pounds of fluid - yuck! Ah well, it all came good in the end, as I've learned not to stress out if I find a gain these days, just keep on going and look at the long term results. We're at a total of 2 stone 11 lost now, and I'm looking forward to cracking the 3 stone mark, hopefully before Easter, that would be a nice way to round things off!
Fantastic to hear you've got a 2 pound loss this week, despite that 'sneaky peek' a few days ago - you've done really well!!! Congratulations!
I'm glad you're no longer stressing out if you gain these days, as weight definitely fluctuates - and it's the overall trend and long term results that matter. You've lost an amazing 2 stone 11 pounds in total, and that is fantastic!!! You'll be cracking that 3 stone mark in time for Easter, and that will be an excellent Easter present.
Hi there. I have more than I thought this week. I have changed scales as I am now back at my other home overseas and I weighed in kilos this morning. I was 80.6 which the converter tells me is 12st7. Last week I was 12st 10 and ¾. I'm really pleased about that as I was trying to be good. I thought 80kg was about 13 st so the converter app was a pleasant surprise - I hope it's accurate!!!
I have deleted my original reply to you, because I think it was incorrect, I do apologise! Moreless has set me straight, and so I would like to Congratulate you on losing 3.75 pounds this week, that is fantastic! The converters I used somehow gave me a different result to the one you used, and Moreless has given me the worked through calculation, which shows your converter is correct.
You are making excellent progress and that is an excellent result.
Well done everyone who has lost and patience to those who have maintained. If you were unlucky enough to gain, I hope you manage to knock it off again PDQ!
I tried to respond to the morning thread, but the site slowed to a halt for me and I had to give up. I did read and think I managed to click all the like buttons.
Despite not exercising as much as I would have liked due to this pesky virus, I managed to lose 2.5lbs this week, which brings my total weight lost to a nice big fat 60lbs! Roughly half way to goal.
Really sorry that you had difficulties with the Morning Session thread - I noticed a couple of people had noticed similar difficulties, and I think I will put up a post mid week to ask people about any 'glitches' etc, so that we can once again provide some feedback to the Tech team - to see if they can hopefully help.
I think it's good that you've rested up rather than push things whilst having your pesky virus. It's important to look after yourself at such times.
Congratulations on losing 2.5 pounds this week, and I am absolutely thrilled to hear your total loss is now 60 pounds!!!!!! Wow!!!!!! Many Congratulations!!!! If I knew how to do a 'crown' icon here I would give it to you!
You're roughly half-way to your goal, and you are amazing!
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
p.s. If you want to add to the Feedback thread, I've posted a link here, as I decided to post it now:
Lowcal I'm so glad you had a lovely time away and what a tiny gain- now if that was me before my journey it would be at least a 7lbs gain- i have total respect for you!
Moreless the site wouldnt let me reply to the morning thread but i suspect your hiccup is due to Argos scales... i've warned you all so many times but do any of you listen?! Well this is what happens- we've all already heard about someones scales on here tuning in to channel 4 well i'm warning you its global domination theyre after and unless we single handedly wipe them all out were looking at a disaster of apocalyptic proportions.
I've actually had a row with my scales today (well more of a stand-off) as per usual they gave me the slitty eyed look again as i stood on them so today i decided i'd practice some psychological warfare on them- they like to flash about with about 5 different weights before they finalise what will be todays weight but today they couldnt decide so they gave me 2 (this was repeated 4 times)- i was absolutely furious- swore profusely at them and went back to bed- then 20 minutes later i ate my breakfast drank 2 cups of tea and then started plotting their demise.. it was vendetta time...i started balancing things on them sometimes including myself and i got them so confused as i kept adding and removing at their final measurement point that eventually they showed error. Satisfied with their torture i decided i'd try weighing myself again (after i'd eaten and drunk 2 teas) and the evil little 8&£&*rd$ displayed the higher weight (with their slitty eyes and i'm almost certain theres a sideways smirk going on too)
Anyway despite the evil little savages trying to sabotage me, the higher weight still gives me a loss of -3 lbs so not too shabby but much more exciting - I'm in the 15's yipee!!!!
P.S. if anyone has any torture ideas for scales- please do let me know
I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post, regarding the Scales-Gate Scenario - you certainly had quite a battle with them this morning! Sorry to hear that you also had some difficulties accessing the Morning Session thread. I am going to put up a 'Glitch feedback' thread to ask for feedback on any experienced glitches, so we can feedback to the Tech dept, and hopefully they will be able to help us out.
Most importantly though, I am thrilled to hear that you have lost at least 3 pounds this week, which is extremely good and means you're in the 15's - wow! That is exciting!!! Really well done!
Wishing you another great week ahead.
Lowcal
p.s. I have posted a 'feedback post' re: feedback of glitches etc - so if you want to add your comments there, that would be great (comments about the site being difficult to access rather than comments about your Argos scales
LOLLLLL this was a brilliant reply, thank you for the laughs! And very well done on a tremendous loss in spite of the scales doing their best to thwart your attempts! You showed 'em who's boss, wtg!
Tell them to behave or you will take them to the tip and buy a new set. Remind them what a lovely home and a charmed existence they currently lead, and see whether they like the idea of being stuck in a pile of rubbish instead.
Sadly WW i think we're past the talking stage- i've already moved them from the bathroom to the kitchen (i cant see what they're upto in there and i just dont trust them) and now it seems were not far from "pistols at dawn" its so sad but its getting to the stage of "its them or me" : (
After a break for healthy eating I'm back on the wagon again. I went to Egypt for two weeks and since I've been back I've had a week off of the diet. Back on it from today at 12st 1.8lb. Before Holiday I got down to 11 st 11lb so I'm pretty happy with the gain (considering all things) but keen to keep losing.
At Easter will be my niece's naming day where I have been asked to be one of her mentors so as well as it being a happy day I know I will be in lots of photos so I would really like to feel more comfortable in my own skin - ideally down to 11st 0lbs!
So the plan is to keep to under 1500 cals and keep up my activity!
Great to hear you're back on the wagon again, and it's great that you've joined us for this Monday weigh-in session. I hope you enjoyed your break in Egypt and also your week off when you got back. You did well to get down to the 11's before your holiday, and you've not gained all that much, despite being on holiday, so hopefully you'll soon be back to your pre-holiday weight. You've shared your starting weight as from today, and it's great to hear you've got such a special event at Easter to look forward to as your niece's Naming Day, and being one of her Mentors for that special day. Hopefully you'll be enjoying participating in those many photos taken of that special day, and feeling comfortable and happy.
Annoyingly I gained one this week, which is hard to admit. I have no reason other than a change of pace. A week off work and loss of.routine. was out an about and active, bit not as much as my crazy pace at work. So I am back over the stone boundary and back into the higher number prefix . Gutted. Did do 150 mins activity.
I am so sorry to hear you're feeling gutted Mary, it doesn't sound at all fair that you gained 1 pound, as you've only had a change of pace. I hope you enjoyed your week off work and that you enjoyed the break from your usual routine. Great that you were out and about and active still.
Great that you did 150 mins activity.
Don't let that 1 pound gain get you down too much, as I'm sure you'll reverse it now you're back to your normal routine, and hopefully you'll have a great week ahead.
Aww Mary, don't despair, the same happened to me this week and a couple of others too. We'll form our own little gang and kick those pounds into oblivion!
Chin up, we'll get there, even if it's a little slower than we'd hoped
Week 7 and a loss of 1.875lb,I've gone decimal to save moreless converting it.Total to date 1 Stone exactly and I now have a pair of 38" trousers that fit.My old 42" trousers are awaiting a charity bag.Thank you all for just being there x
You are very kind to have gone decimal - thank you! But we will cope with either way of representing the weight. So don't feel you have to do that - although I have to say it is appreciated! Congratulations on losing 1.875 pounds. Wow, you've lost a total of 1 stone - that is fantastic! Many Congratulations. Really glad you can now fit your 38" trousers, and I am sure someone else will enjoy having the old 42" ones, via the charity shop.
Started at the beginning of January and have lost 10lbs in total. Was 15st 2 but and am now 14st 6 - but in the last 4 weeks I have only lost 1lb. Am doing loads of exercise and can tell it's working as feeling the benefit but it's frustrating not seeing the scales move.
Well done on finding Sosh, and I would like to say to Sosh:
Hi Sosh,
Really well done for losing 10 pounds in total since starting at the beginning of January - that is fantastic progress. Congratulations! I know you've lost 1 pound in the last 4 weeks, so that's 0.25 pound on average per week in those 4 weeks. I know it's frustrating when the scales don't move as much as we'd sometimes like them to do, but you can feel the difference in yourself, and you know you're making good progress - in an onwards and downwards trend, and I wonder if you've taken your body measurements so you can see how those have changed over time?
It's defnitely not all about the scales, so I'm glad you are holding on to how you're feeling, and you're getting close to losing a whole stone. I think you'll achieve that in the next few weeks, all being well. Just keep focused and remember you're doing really well.
Hi Lowcal. You didn't gain too much so I'm sure you'll be back in the 12s by next week.
I over-indulged too on afternoon tea on Friday - but it was yummy! Anyway, I was up 1 kilo to 53.1 this morning. I'm back to eating healthy food again so hopefully that extra kilo will drop off by next week.
It was quite a stressful week, was interviewed for a new post at my place of work but the position was given to an external candidate who gave better answers than me even though up to that point I'd been a front runner :-(. Really disappointed.
Anyway, it's a new week and a fresh start for us all. Hope it's a good one for everyone!
Your Afternoon Tea sounds delicious on Friday - I also enjoy those very very occasionally! You've gained 1 kg this week, but you're back to healthy food again so hopefully that kilo will soon bite the dust again.
I am so sorry to hear that you were beaten to that post by an external candidate - that is horrible. I can imagine how disappointed you are, and I hope you will cope ok with that news, as it's tough when it's your own place of work.
Like you say, it's a new week, and a fresh start for each and every one of us, and hopefully we'll have a great week ahead.
Thanks Lowcal. My line manager was brilliant about it but my colleagues seem to be embarrassed for me and just avoiding the topic! It's like when hubbie had cancer a few years ago, and people don't know what to say (he's been cancer-free for 3 years now by the way). Ah well.
Thanks for your good wishes, have a great week yourself
I know, it's sometimes like there's a massive elephant in the room, but noone feels comfortable to say anything. Glad your line manager has been brilliant about it - maybe you could raise the topic yourself with your colleagues to break the ice so to speak.
Great that your husband has been cancer-free for 3 years - that is brilliant.
Take heart Carolee, that happened to me once, but I had the last laugh. The person taken on was rubbish and didn't last 5 mins and I got a bigger and better job elsewhere! Here's hoping the same will happen to you
Thanks for what you said. You'll never guess what happened - the person they offered it to accepted it, all the checks were done and then she said she didn't want it after all. Apparently she'd quibbled about the salary at interview and that didn't set alarm bells ringing!? Anyway, I was told this morning that the job is mine if I want it, and I accepted. Happy days
1st weigh in today. Faced my fears & the scales. 15st 2lb 😫 I last weighed this much 6 years ago & lost 8lb pretty quick when my youngest was born! Stocked up on fruit to take to work & bulking up a hairy dieters spicy chicken & rice recpie with extra peppers so I can have leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Bit worried about what this week will bring. I'm not good with temptation 😟 Wish me luck! 🍀
I'm very pleased that you've decided to join us today and that you've shared your starting weight with us
It sounds as if you're all organised, will you be following the NHS 12 week plan?
Have a look at our newbie thread, which can be found in the pinned posts section to the right of your screen, as it's full of handy tips and a link to the 12 week plan.
I hope you'll enjoy being active on the forum and will join in our motivational challenges.
Thanks for joining us for this Monday group weigh-in. Great to have you on board with us, and thanks for sharing your starting weight. Hopefully this will be the heaviest you'll be, and you can look forward to being in the 14's very soon. You're already sounding prepared with your fruit and also your delicious sounding recipe - sounds yummy!
Are you following the NHS 12 week plan? It's a really good framework and has lots of great advice and information. Do look at the Pinned posts too - as there are some delicious recipes there, and also Moreless has compiled a 'Welcome Newbies' post which is definitely worth a read.
Hopefully you will benefit from pre-planning, and so temptation won't stand too much in your way.
Wishing you a great week ahead, and as you asked - wishing you a dose of luck too.
5.40pm I'm going to cook some dinner now, but I'll be back later. Please keep posting everyone, as there will be Fab 5'ers around all evening! We check the post intermittently and you will all have a response at some point in the evening. Really enjoying reading everyone's posts today!
Feeling hungry now though - going to explore what to have for dinner.
A very small loss for me this week but it is not surprising as I went out on Friday night and drank and ate a lot and then the weekend was a wright off! Last week I was 15st 2.25lbs and this week I am 15st 1.5lbs so a loss of 0.75lbs. I am going to go with it's better than nothing!
Congratulations on losing 0.75 pounds, that's a really good loss. You had a socialising weekend, and you've still managed to lose, so well done to you!
Hope you have another great week ahead, and you're getting closer to the 14's.
A gain for me this week, 10st 6 1/2lbs, a gain of 2 1/4 lbs, not a fab week, part of this is hormone drama, so much better with my maca root, no 1/2lb gain this time.
More mindful this week, and realistically only 1/2lb from my max maintain weight
Oh dear Diana, I think the best think I can say to you is that eventually you'll emerge on the other side of these hormone problems and after a very short while will forget all about them
Well done for staying within your maintenance limit though
So i got tied up with work last week and wasnt able to post- in two weeks I've managed to lose 1.4kg- I have slowed down so much!! I've got 6.9kg to go before Im at my goal weight and 0.9kg to go before I'm at my bmi top weight- so close!!!
I have my dress fitting in 8 days and am going to go hard and try and get rid of that 0.9kg before then! then I can go to my fitting as a healthy bmi weight! haha
im feeling amazing and fitting into clothes which I have been unable to fit into for ages
An interesting thing this weekend tho- it was my fiances birthday so we had a weekend off ate rubbish cos we had people round and it was just easy had cake etc- last night we both felt pants!! I said to him "getting back to the healthy eating tomorrow" thinking that he'd not be happy but he said yes please!! we both felt so rubbish last night- nice to get back on it today
Oh wow Wood, you're doing so well! I know you think it's going slowly now, but you still lost just over 1.5lbs these last 2 weeks, which is phenomenal so close to your goal
Good luck with your goal of 0.9kgs before your dress fitting. I agree it would be fantastic to be at healthy BMI by then
Look how much the two of you have changed during your journey. Junk food will never have the same appeal again
Wishing you a fantastic week that gets you to your goal!
Completed week one and 2lb down. Was really good up until Saturday night when I ate out for my nieces birthday but im trying not to give up because of a slip up. Top tip for me is I can't drink alcohol and diet as I don't make good food choices. Hope get under 10st before next week weigh in . Thanks for support x
Oh dear Roseanne, I think you'll find a lot of people would agree with you about your alcohol light bulb moment, but well done you for still managing to lose 2lbs though!
Good luck with your goal of the 9's by next monday
Thanks. It's just in the past I have managed to lose a lot more far quicker so it feels slow to me but I keep remembering how much 2lbs a week adds up to over a year and I'm happy. Also this is not part of the yo-yo dieting I've done in the past. No more silly shakes!
Exactly! I remember the halcyon years of being able to lose a stone in a fortnight too, but if I concentrate, I remember that it went back on almost as quickly!
A maintain is better than a gain djas, so well done you
If you need motivation to exercise, how about joining FizzyLiz's Around the World challenge?
Are you following the NHS 12 week plan and weighing and measuring everything? It can help to keep a food log too, just in case extraneous food items are finding their way into your mouth
Congratulations on maintaining your weight this week, as it is always better than a gain. I know you're planning to up your exercise this week, so good luck with that, and here's to a loss on the scales for you next week.
I love it that you stay so positive and so on 'back on track' LowCal! This week I am finally down to 11 stone 5.4 pounds after being STUCK for ages on 11.6 something. I have not yet cut out the drinking, as I promised to try last week (whoops) but I have upped the exercise with a running machine and cycle at the gym. And right now I am on the tomato juice. Which gives me more spare calories than I know what to do with!
(especially as I burnt 70 cals at the gym earlier!)
I just read the messages from someone who has two kids and isn't into cooking much mostly as she is too busy. That is a real shame and I wondered if anyone has favourite QUICK meals they could recommend as otherwise the food isn't interesting enough to stick with. You need lots of flavour (I use tons of herbs!) to make up for the low cal content...Tonight I had 2 really meaty 'Debbie and Andew' sausages ovenbaked- 150 calories each but they are expensive;baked potato and veg. That was quick to cook-! and filling
Anyway, just rambling, I know I enjoy cooking and it is a life saver- Hairy Biker s recipes for me! Good luck everyone next week
Glad you enjoyed your break in London lowcal, who wouldn't over indulge a little when away for a couple of days.
I've lost 0.75lb (now 12st 5lb) this week and this has brought my BMI down to 29.6. I am now overweight and not obese! Never thought I'd be so happy to be overweight 😁
Woohoo Nic, that's a fabulous achievement! It's a great feeling, I felt the same when I left the morbidly obese bracket. Overweight sounds so normal and nothing at all to worry about
Keep up the good work and you'll reach normal healthy weight!
Lowcal, Sounds like you had a lovely time in town. I'm sure you'll soon lose the 1.8 lbs
Having been laid up with flu for the past two weeks and eating whatever I fancied with no exercise, I've gained weight and now weigh 12st 5 - up 3lb since pre-flu. I'm left with mild cold like symptoms and a little tired now - its my first day back to work.
Now have the energy to plan my meals and cook them so back to the diet. Recovery seems to be slow but I am hoping that by the end of the week to be exercising.
Hope no-one else has had this - but instead had a good week and will have a successful one next week.
A lot of people have been poleaxed by a particularly nasty virus Tinkle, you definitely aren't the only one. I'm very relieved to hear that you are now on the mend.
Don't push yourself too hard, or too fast, your body needs time to recover from that sort of onslaught.
Once you get back on plan, those 3lbs will soon bite the dust
It's great that you've chosen to join us and that you've bravely shared your starting weight and end goal with us
How clever of you not to get up to 12 stone and maybe you should set your first goal at 11.5
Have a look at our welcome newbie thread, which is in the pinned posts section on the right of your screen. It's full of helpful tips and also has a link to the NHS 12 week plan, which is a great weight loss plan designed to help you learn about healthy eating.
I hope you'll enjoy your time with us and will become an active member of the forum, joining in our challenges
Thanks so much. I've been losing weight in the last few months, with my highest weight being 12st 8 so I'm definitely getting there! I've set myself up on the NHS 12 week program and that sounds like a good goal weight to me!
Feeling pretty darn pleased at the moment. Last week I was 11st 0.8lbs, this week it's 10st 13.4lbs, so a loss of 1.4lbs, but I'm now in the 10s which was my mini goal to reach by the end of this month. WTG me. 😃😃😃 (couldn't find a blowing my own trumpet emoticon haha).
Lowcal, I have to admire the small gain you had, it must have been hard to find healthy food in restaurants in London - I was born there and lived there for over forty years, it's a great city to visit. You'll soon wave goodbye to that little gain and get back in the 12s.
Woohoo Anon-E-Mouse! Into the 10's! What a fantastic achievement! WTG you! I'm afraid I don't have an impressive emoticon either I guess your next goal is 10.5 then!
Thanks Moreless. I hadn't thought of my next goal, but it will probably be to get below 10.5 st by Easter, or it would be if I knew when Easter is this year! 🐣🐣
End of week 4 another 1lb off, that's 11lbs in 4 weeks, bringing me down to 13 stone 11lb! Still a long way to go but I'm enjoying every minute of this healthy eating! Thanks for all the support everyone & best of luck with your weekly weigh in!
Hello all a gain for me too, why? weekend lasted till Tuesday and then weekend started Thursday, plus excersise lacking due to eating and drinking out as well as general malaise, trying to get today's steps up hard as I didn't surface till 11am 😳 No meals out this week, forgot to say 11.2 for me 😢
I can get into the thread but I can't seem to open messages I can read the bit that comes up on email but that's all 😳 I am here till midnight so feel free to go to bed I am watching a film and am going to walk round during the adverts
Are you sure? The site/thread has been a pain today. Have you seen Lowcal's thread re glitches, she's going to send it to the tech team. You should add your problems too.
Hi everyone! I'm Rachael and I have just found this weight loss plan! I weigh 11st 8lbs and I am 19. Since being at uni I have gained weight (normal I know!) but I don't want it to get out of hand and I also don't want to have to go up another size in jeans! So I am going to try this method and hope that it works!
I like the ideas of weigh ins so I can keep track of how I am doing.
My aim is to get back in to 10st something, it has been many years since that has happened but want to do it now rather than wait till its too late!
Just saw your post as I'm about to pop off to bed. Glad I saw you, but there are other Fab 5'ers around just now too. Great that you've joined our Monday group weigh-in session, and it's lovely to have you on board with us. You've shared your starting weight, and you've also got your ultimate weight loss goal. Maybe take your body measurements too, so you can keep track of how your measurements change over time, it can be very motivating, especially on those occasions when the scales get stuck.
Most of us are doing the NHS 12 week plan, so do have a look to see if it's something that you'd also like to try. It's a great structure and full of advice and information. Easy to follow, especially if you use an app alongside it like Myfitnesspal (for example) to help you keep track of food and drink intake and exercise.
Wishing you a great first week. Maybe also have a read of the 'Welcome Newbie' post that Moreless has collated - it's in the Pinned Posts section, which is on the right-hand-side of the homepage. It's also full of interesting things written by various members of the forum. Also some great recipe ideas in the Pinned post section too - by Lucca10.
I'm off to bed now, so night night, and have a great week ahead.
Evening Prin & Suzybenj, lovely Fab 5'ers, and anyone else who is still awake and reading this now. Just to say I'm going to have an early night tonight and go to sleep now (about 10.45pm).
Great threads (Morning and Afternoon/Evening sessions) as usual, and very inspired by everyone's progress. I know that all of the Fab 5'ers have gained weight this week, but many of the people contributing to the thread have lost weight, and hopefully we'll be joining the 'losers' next week - all being well.
Night night, and I'll check the threads in the morning just incase there are any late night weighers who pop in after midnight.
So do keep posting, if you're a late-night weigher - as the Fab 5'ers (Prin and Suzy) seem to be still up and about, and I will pop in early tomorrow, to respond to anyone who hasn't had a response.
No, I'm not saying you'd let that happen Prin, - I know you wouldn't, but I'm not expecting you guys to stay up all through the night, and I reckon there'll be some possibly very very late weighers - or maybe the other hemisphere (Australia etc) will wake up and may post overnight.
Have a great night Prin, and hope you are feeling better.
Lowcal
Hi Lowcal
Sorry I’m running late!
Yesterday I was 11st 4 lb. (was 11st 5lb last Monday).
So that’s 1lb off this week. Hurray!
Work is all over my life at the moment and now likely to remain so for months - this could be a good thing as I lose more when I'm working more! We'll see!
Lovely spring day today, so looking forward to a walk later.
Sorry it's late but my weight loss this week was 2lb making me 13 stone 8lb need to loose 10lb now to leave the obese BMI. I am quite pleased with this as I have been less active and down with a cold all week. Frisky 😀
First week and... no change! But considering that I spent half the week away at a work conference (so less control over food and less opportunity for exercise), I'm not too displeased. Am back to normal routines this week, so hopefully will start seeing some results soon!
I know you're doing the stats this week, so I am just copying and pasting a response that Moreless and I found today in a previous week's thread, which was meant to be in this one.
The poster is called Segrie, and here is the copied and pasted section:
Segrie said: Not sure if my post went up on Monday so I thought I would pop in again with todays news. I did manage to loose 1.8 lbs last week but the really great news is I felt strong enough to go back to running today and completed run2 of week 5 on the NHS Couch to 5k programme. I graduated 18 months ago but have had health and emotional problems since. Onwards and upwards.
Both myself and Moreless have already responded to Congratulate Segrie on this great loss of 1.8 pounds, and also on making excellent progress with the Couch to 5k, but I wanted to make sure that the post was included for this week's stats.
I forgot yo weigh myself again yesterday, so I cheated and did it this morning.
I weighed in at 81.4 kg so same as last week. But it's been a bad week with suffering a cold and having so much stress at work I'm surprised I haven't gained.
Hi! I am wanting to follow this plan and fo a weigh in on a Monday afternoon. Will this be available each week over next 12 weeks? It would be brilliant if it is. I have paying for Weight watchers but can't afford to carry on. I feel motivated enough now to calorie count on my own but if there is a group weigh in that would be fab!! 😊
Kassa you are more than welcome, the thread is run each Monday morning and afternoon, as the post gets so big it's a bit slow, so if you weigh in later look for the afternoon thread, if you follow Lowcal you will get an email notification when it is posted. I have been at this thread for 3 years and it hasn't cost me a penny! look at the top of the post and you can see what you need to do, generally we celebrate our sucess, or commiserate and evaluate our gains, we are a friendly bunch and we all lose weight at different rates and are at different stages in our journey-welcome aboard
Thanks for your post - I think I already replied to you in the 'morning session post' - so if Ruth (our stats woman) is reading this, I think Rukhsana's 1kg loss will already be noted there.
Rukhsana, Congratulations - you are doing really well.
Glad you're feeling happy and here's to another great week ahead.
I noticed that debbieduck had posted her own thread, instead of adding to monday's weigh-in thread, I left her a link, but was worried that she may miss it and I may forget, so I've copied and pasted her, to be on the safe side
I know I'm late posting but only just managed 5 minutes, weighed myself Monday end of week 1 and have lost 2 lb so a good start .going to aim for lower calls on 1400 @the mo, Try 1300 pleased with 2lb though .
Hi I think I might of added my weight on the wrong site I lost 2lb this week which was week 1 . I've not done much exercise this week yet but I intend to go for a walk in a bit half an hour and then off to Pilates. Let's hope I get it right for week 2. Happy weight loss guys and gals.
Luckily Moreless spotted your post, and if you look above what you just wrote, you'll see that she copied and pasted your results, and I 'responded' to congratulate you - your results have therefore been included, so it's all good! Ruth is our stats woman and wonderful Fab 5'er and she's already done this week's stats, which we will report at next Monday's group weigh-in - and your results are included there.
Look forward to seeing you at next Monday's weigh-in, and hopefully you'll post in the right place - you could always click on 'follow' and my name (Lowcal) if you wanted to be notified of when the post is posted, or alternatively you can always see the latest thread in the 'Events' section, which is on the right-hand-side of the homepage.
Wishing you a great remainder of the week and lovely weekend when it comes.
Hi all I couldn't get on here on Monday. My starting measurements on Sunday were 16st 8.5lbs. Heaviest I've ever been. But fingers crossed I'll have lost something by the weekend!
Welcome lollypop we have an open all hours approach, glad you are able to join us, are you following the 12 week plan? If not it's a good place to start and my fitness pal is a great eye opener to enable us to see the calorific value of food, any questions shout up some one will have can idea, there is also a link to the newbies thread at the top of the post, hang on it may be a bumpy ride but I am sure you will do great'
