My goal this year is to lose around 5 stone. I know that it's going to be hard, but I want to be happy and healthy again.
I feel a little daunted though...

I have a similar goal and lost a similar amount this year.
You should certainly break your major goal into smaller ones as it will help you see your progress better.
5 stone is a lot to lose but even 2 - 3 stone will make a massive difference to your health.
Good luck
You have come to a good place. The people here are friendly and will support you. We all know how hard it is.
Don't be daunted. Think one day at a time and keep to the plan. Visualise how utterly wonderful you will feel when you've done it. Never think you can't. Good luck we are all with you on your journey.
Thanks very much. I will post updates as they come. It's just so challenging doing it with my diabetes too! 🙈

Hi Amanda-Faye,
I can understand you feel daunted, as losing 5 stone can seem really hard when you're starting your weight loss journey, but I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community, and that you'll enjoy the journey towards being happier and healthier. Great goals to have for the New Year.
The NHS 12 week plan is really good - not sure if you've seen it already, but it's definitely worth a look, and using an app like Myfitnesspal alongside it can really help to keep track of calories and exercise etc. You may have your own plan for weight loss of course, but I would definitely recommend the NHS 12 week plan, as it is really good.
If you would like to join in our Monday Group weigh-in, then you'd be very welcome. I post it just before 7am on Mondays, and it's a large and enthusiastic group of like-minded people.
I know group weigh-ins aren't necessarily everyone's cup of tea though, so whatever you do, I hope you'll enjoy your time in the community, and I hope to see you around and about in the forum.
Happy New Year,
Lowcal
Great comments here, I can't add much really. You are definitely in the right place, the folk here are brilliant for support and motivation. I started my journey at the beginning of September and it's not been completely smooth...took a big step backwards over Christmas but I'm on it and ready to lose again...I've still got stones and stones to lose too. Don't get daunted by the big picture, everyone is right, break it into smaller goals and celebrate every single loss because even 1lb per week over 14 weeks adds up to a stone (obviously lol!). What I mean is, think what you can achieve in 52 weeks! We can do this, let's go!
This is another old post, Saleem and you're very unlikely to get a response.
