Is there anyone who has been a very high weight 250+, that would be able to offer advice and share their story with me for losing weight?

Hello. There are lots of people on this board who have a bit to loose and some who have done it. Everyone is very friendly here and will give you moral support.
Have you looked at the nhs 12 week plan yet? It is worth having a look.
There is a friendly weigh in club on a Monday which you can join in. Good luck.
Hiya and welcome, you've come to a great place for support, advice and encouragement or just a chat and a little banter.
As for dieting, well it terrified me, I don't mind saying When I started, I thought the best thing was to cut out sugar as much as I was able, also butter and bread. When I'd found a comfortable balance ( I still have sugar, butter and bread, albeit in moderation) I started to address the area of processed foods and started to reduce those too.
I guess what I'm trying to say, is that I had no intention of torturing myself, I eased myself into it and based my diet on the 12 week plan.
I used this site to get feedback on my approach and found some very constructive comments which allowed me to refine and tailor my diet to my specific needs.
The more you post, the more help you will get.
I look forward to hearing from you again.

Hi rainbowdrops, when I started my journey, I weighed 276 and now, 15 weeks later, I weigh 238.
If you go to my profile page, you can read my posts and follow my story
It doesn't matter how much we have to lose though, as we're all in this together. There's always support, encouragement, motivation and inspiration to be gleaned from every member of this community. The trick is to become involved
As Aqua_Marine has suggested, there's a Monday group weigh-in

There's also an exercise challenge

It's also important to read and reply to posts, so that you feel included.
Wishing you all the best

Hi Raindowdrops,
About 5 years ago, I was 259 pounds, and today I am 183.8 pounds, so I've lost 75.2 pounds over those 5 years. It's definitely possible to lose weight and I've managed to get into a healthy BMI for the past 2 years, and stay there - so it's possible to maintain the weight loss too. I'm still trying to get just a few pounds off, as I'm still aiming for a goal weight that I feel happy with, but I can say that I feel so much healthier for having lost the weight.
I would recommend that you try the NHS 12 week plan as a good structure to follow, and that you also use a tracker like Myfitnesspal to calculate calories and exercise. Also, using this forum regularly and getting involved and talking to people really helps. You can get so many ideas and strategies - and just having consistent support from like-minded people is invaluable.
I do a Monday weigh-in Group thread every Monday - and we'll be here on 28th December too, so if you like the idea of that, then please do join us there. You'd be very welcome.
But I know group weigh-ins aren't everyone's cup of tea, so whatever you decide to do, I wish you the very best with your weight loss journey, and hope to see you around and about in the forum.
Have a great Christmas!
Lowcal
Hi,
I started at 343 lb! Have lost 65.6lb so far.
Take a serious look at portion sizes and cut back on snacking as much as you can.
You'll find loads of advice, inspiration and support on this site.
Good luck
Just a quick note to say that there are lots of people on here who are very committed to there being less of them in the months ahead. And we'd like you to join us - nice things about this site include
1) anonymity (you can tell us anything at all and we could walk past you in the street and never know it was you - very liberating!),
2) openness (we can be entirely honest due to 1!),
3) lots of us are chatty and like typing so we have can get access to lots of advice from people who are so happy to share what works / doesn't work for them.
Welcome - hope you are able to start moving towards some of your goals in 2016 - preferably with us!
xx
