I have struggled a lot with binge eating and i am trying to recover
My diet is really bad and consists of lots of sugar and unhealthy food as i find myself with little self control and eating everything near for convinence. This gives me a lot of health issues, really big jumps in weight, terrible belly aches and inconsistent bowel movements (sorry, TMI!)
Im trying to get better to improve my health and being comfortable in my body. (Seriously, the bloating and growing so rapidly is very uncomfortable.)
i hope i can find some encouragement and some community to keep me going i hope you guys reach your goals and stay healthy 💗

Hi and welcome to our friendly forum Batfish. Sorry to hear that you have been struggling with self ocntrol and motivation. Once you get stuck in to life on this forum you will soon start to see both of those improving, but you have to put in a bit of work too
I would sugget you start by joining the Weekly Weigh In (speaks for itself) and the Daily Diary where we plan our meals for the day and share anything else that may help other members adivce/help you. As we are at the end of the week i would suggest joining the Weekly Weigh In tomorrow or any other day that best suits you. The current Daily Diary is due to close at 6pm so i would post on the new one after 6. That gives you a bit of time to plan your meals for tomorrow too - failing to plan is planning to fail
All of the information you need about the forum can be found as Pinned Postshealthunlocked.com/weight-l... and I hope to see you joining all the Events, Challenges and Clubs that we run.
We've found active participation to be key to successful weight loss and, of course, it's a good way to get to know people, find inspiration and share support and encouragement.
You're welcome Batfish. Take your time and work your way round the site, have a read of the current posts to get an idea of how things work, then jumpin when you're ready.
Remember everyone on this forum has been on or is currently on a weight loss journey so there's plenty of experience at hand xx
Welcome Batfish …you will love it here. Everyone is so friendly and encouraging and we’ve all experienced just how tricky this weight control journey can be. I’ve struggled with binge eating myself and until I joined this forum I thought it was just me. It’s so helpful to be able to talk openly here. As springersrule says…have a good look around and try tomorrow’s weigh in too. I will be there myself…although not until later in the afternoon. See you there and good luck!🌼
Welcome batfish. As others have said lots of support on this forum -though its not the easiest forum to use ( just being honest) but keep at it and you'll find your way to the threads you’re interested in. But I would also suggest you get yourself a nice A5 size notebook and on the first page write down your reasons for wanting to get a handle on your eating patterns - writing it down will help you make a fresh start. You can then use this as a journal going forward, write meal plans and recipe ideas, inspirational quotes, positive messages to yourself when you have a bad week, record your weightloss, exercise you do, and anything else you want to -you'll build a great resource and see your progress. Have a go at planning a weeks meals and then write yourself a shopping list -its so much easier to avoid ’grabbing whats easy’ if you know whats for dinner. Take a look at the monthly recipe threads and the guts challenge on here to see what everyones eating. Today is a brand new shiny week and what better time than now to start your new regime. Have a good week 1.
This is why the majority of us address our eating habits . Don’t radically give up everything you like or I am doubtful whether you could stick to this . Shop with meal plans . Have that sweet little thing for when you feel - hey I had enough . Just cutting down , have half is a starter. Aim for 3 meals a day . If you download the MyFitnessPal app - free version it will tell you how much of all you are eating. It even scans barcodes . Look at portion sizes. When do you eat more - distraction ? Give it 20 mins and weirdly the urge seems to go . Low cal hot choc drink is so crazy hot that if you sip that in the evening it won’t be that instant why have a just eaten this is 30 seconds .Could you get anyone to join you ?
Addressing this and starting is the hardest and you have done this
I would like to say welcome to the group but as I only joined myself today that doesn't seem right. I just read your post and wanted to share something from my own experience with you.
Something that stood out in your post to me was your comments about " terrible belly aches and inconsistent bowel movements"
Have you ever been tested for any food allergies ?
The reason I ask is that I'm not a doctor or any expert in this field and the only experience I have is my own so this is not advice more of me just sharing my experience with you.
A few years ago whilst out having a meal, I suddenly start to bloat and feel very full. I couldn't eat another bite or even take a drink which was unlucky as it was a works Christmas meal with a free bar and if I said "I like a drink" it would be an large understatement. This feeling continued on and off for best part of 2 years until I was finally diagnosed with a wheat allergy that apparently was hereditary. My symptoms where quite similar to yours, bloating, stomach cramps etc. my bowl movement were from one extreme to the other and changed more often than my teenage sons socks. My bloating resulted in my suffering from an abdominal hernia and a diastasis recti which is common in pregnant women. I am only just starting to get a handle on it now and had surgery for the hernia about 4 months ago.
I guess what I am trying to impart here is that if you do have an allergy to a particular food type then get it looked into sooner than later. Had I got myself checked out earlier then I wouldn't of had to endure the pain and uncomfortable life I did.
Welcome. If you need help here is a great place to receive it. This forum is very motivational and can help you in a big way.
The hardest part of dieting is motivation and hope for the future. Having a friendly, supportive community is a keystone in maintaining that hope and motivation. You will get help with everything but the washing up here ^^
