Welcome! I feel your pain, as do a good few of us on here, I suspect! This is a great place for motivation and tips, tricks, recipes, you name it, the people are fab.
There is a weekly Monday weigh in which anyone can join...we all celebrate/commiserate as appropriate every week, but no-one judges you here, which I love. I joined the weigh in as it helps one to stay on track and kind of be accountable.
Did you check your BMI on the NHS website too? It doesn't just tell you the BMI and leave you to guess the rest, it actually tells you how many calories you should be eating for your height, weight etc, and I was pleasantly surprised, I don't have to starve to lose weight after all - hooray!
I'd say, if you have any questions or want some ideas or inspiration, just post. Ditto if you are having an off day and need some encouragement to get back on track.
Hi, I'd love to take part in the weekly weigh-ins. I checked out my BMI & Obese is the answer for now. I have set my calorie intake at the lower end of the range it advises.
Home from work now, so tonights reading will be the 12 week guide. Will check out the meal planner too & shop accordingly.
Great stuff, look out for the post every Monday, I think Prin is posting it at the moment, until Lowcal comes back from jetsetting Mid-December, but usually Lowcal posts it. The title to look out for is something like this...
"Please Join Us for a Monday Group Weigh-in (23rd November 2015)"
...you should see it fairly easily when you visit the forum on a Monday as it's a popular post and so it gets lots of replies, just jump in and post to say hello, you can post your weight, or not if you don't want to, there aren't really any rules. I just post how much I lost or gained each week, rather than my actual weight, and a lot of folk do that.
See you at the Monday weigh in, if not before, good luck!
As WeightWarrior has said, this is the best forum this side of the black stump, full of fantastic people in the same boat as you. With our support and encouragement, you can't fail to achieve your goals
Wishing you all the best on your weight loss journey
Thank you for your words of encouragement. Looking forward to following this plan. I stopped smoking 4 years ago & have done nothing but eat too much since, it's time to sort myself out
Hi keep-on, having never dieted in 60 years, and with loads of weight to lose, I know disappointment and frustration of struggling to pull on boots. I tried dieting and lost about a stone. I stayed at that weight for months. Then I found the 12 week plan and for the first time in my life, I put myself on a diet.
I checked out the BMI thingy and it said OBESE. Not good. Since joining this site, (I'd have to look at my profile to find when) I've not really looked back. The support on this site is phenomenal. I don't lose my way often, but when I have, I've been encouraged and motivated by the posts here. I've consequently lost abut 12.5% of my total body weight and over eight inches around my waist.
There is no secret or shortcut to losing weight the healthy way, just a gradual readjustment of lifestyle is all that's required. Dieting is part of that. There are loads of highly informative and helpful posts on this site from people at all stages of lifestyle improvement, and they've given me some very good tips. The journey so far has been an eye opening education for me.
You sound as if you are really committed to improving your health and I've no doubt that you will succeed.
I started off at 16 stone 5 lbs. in February, but never really started dieting until I found this site. At that time I was about 16 stone, but never recorded my weight until I wised up after a week or so. Then I started recording my weight daily.
I posted a question asking whether it's normal for weight to vary considerably over a week, and I posted my progress.
Since then I've continued to update that post to keep me motivated. I just like to have the figures out in the open, to spur me on
I don't know how average my progress is, but I would say if you stick more or less to the plan, then you are likely to achieve similar results.
