Hi Alex, Welcome. I have 1 week to go to complete the 12 week plan. I would recommend reading the newbie post on the home page, use the BMI calculator to calculate how many calories to eat in a day and take things 1 week at a time. I bought a fitbit early on and it has been the best decision I've ever made. It got me out walking and I joined the gym. That may seem insignificant but for someone weighing in at almost 32 stone it was a huge change in my life. So 11 weeks on and I'm walking around 45 miles each week and in the gym most weekdays. The biggest thing I would say to you is be honest with yourself. Calorie count absolutely everything that you eat or drink. I use myfitnesspal app every day to record my food and drink and my fitbit is linked to that to record my exercise.

Remember that everyone here is in the same boat and there is never a daft question. Everyone is so friendly and you can't fail to be motivated by their experiences. Best of luck to you.

Kenny

Welcome Alex,

This forum is a great place for support, inspiration and determination! I hope you'll settle in very easily!

Take a look at the Welcome Newbie post in the pinned post section to the right of this thread for some tricks and tips to get you started :)

The Monday Group Weigh-In is currently going on, so feel free to go and do your first weigh in there now - a great way to get started :) You can find it in the events section on the forum homepage.

There is also many challenges currently being run on the forum, many of them can also be found in the 'pinned post' section to your right :) There, you will also find the recipe thread.

It is also good to set yourself mini targets to reach on the way to your main one :)

I hope that you have a great first week - keep us updated of your progress.

Rob :D

Take a look at the re-boot challenge (you can find it in pinned posts) and read the comments in the section for whichever week of the 12 week plan you are currently on. It really helps to read other peoples experiences, problems and successes of that week. Then at the end of the week go back and post your own experiences, writing them down is a good way of clarifying what was good and what needs more work.

Just wanted to say hi and good luck. I think the 12 week plan is great!

I am also now doing the couch to 5k programme to get a bit fitter and am enjoying that.

Maybe just take small steps initially and set yourself small achievable goals. you will soon lose weight and get fit!

Hello and welcome

The only advice I can offer as well as the excellent advice above is plan, plan plan!! Plan your meals in advance and try to think of interesting new meals 😊 Try not to focus too much on the scales, enjoy the process 😊 and measure your losses with a tape measure 😊 Good luck
