I haven't changed my diet much yet but I have been walking a friend's dog for about a mile and a half 3-4 times a week and I'm down to 22 stone 6! Over half a stone lost! The only problem is I have completely worn out my boots! They did last nearly 5 years, but still. Going to try to keep this up for another month.
Have been cooking at home more but still big meals, I just can't judge things like pasta before I cook them. Only had a few takeaways though so getting better.

Well done - sounds like you are doing really well. It's all about moving more and eating less - and you are on it!
A good tip for getting to know weights of different foods is to weigh them out the first time in a specific bowl and keep a note (either written down or mental) like '30g rice = one third of the moomin mug' or something like that. Then next time you know roughly how much to cook.
Also use smaller bowls for things like cereal etc. We are all guilty of filling up whatever bowl we're using, and sometimes a normal bowl is actually about 3x as much cereal as we should be eating!
Keep up with the walking. Every time you get off the couch and move around your body is singing for joy!
Really pleased you are making progress Jay. Walking is a fab way to shed weight and tone up. I started out with walking for about a month before I seriously decided to start losing weight, I found the 2 just seemed to go hand in hand.
Are you using an app to tell you your distance and calories used? This can really help you understand how your body uses calories. I've just burnt over 700 calories and had a slice of cake - that probably used all my calories but at least I earned them first
I hope you can get your portion control sorted as I believe that has made a huge difference to me.
I'm using Google's fit app on my phone it tells me how many minutes I spend walking but I have measured out my walk before and I always take the same route (give or take a little). I'm usually walking about 40 minutes or so with the dog and 40-80 more minutes during the day depending on what I'm doing at work. Its quite a good app.
