Lost 4lbs in two and half days..

I started on Monday at 11stone 2 lbs and today I thought I'd have a quick weigh just to see and not expecting to lose anything until end of week. Now 10 stone 12lbs. I have been sticking as close as I can to my 1200 calories per day and been using the myfitnesspal to count the calories and record exercise. Exercise is quite minimal to be honest. I put the scales in exactly the same place as Mondays weighin as sometimes putting scales in different place skews the results. I have cut out suger from my tea but I am still having treats I.e a corneto last night. Is this normal for two and half days? I'm only trying to lose pound and half per week. I am 5'2. Thanks.x

Is there a reason why you've started with 1200 cals in particular. I only ask as it is recommended that you don't go below that for health reasons unless you are directed to so by your doctor. If you haven't already then I would check out what the nhs bmi calculator suggests your calorie intake should be.

4lbs in 2 days does sound a lot and you should keep an eye on it as rapid weightloss does not give your body time to adjust and is not generally good for your health. However it your weight can fluctuate quite sizeably throughout the day and the week so I wouldn't take it as read that this is what you will weigh by the end of the week (I've done this on many occassions and been angry when the scales won't tell me I weight i was expecting to see!)

Also from what you've said this is the first week in your new regime. Generally people loose more weight the first few weeks due to water retention. If you loose more than 2lbs after the first couple of weeks then I would take a closer look at what you are consuming and maybe consider eating more.

It sounds like you're doing well so far though so don't get too worried. Congratulations. On making the first important steps to success.

Thanks Pinkymoo, the NHS bmi calculator suggested 1200 calories, guess its because I'm short?. To be honest I'm not bothered if I go over and I find the myfitnesspal app very helpful as it reminds me of what I've eaten and how much I have left so I don't snack. Snacking was my biggest downfall. It was just nice to see a bit of weight off and I will still be happy if I have lost 2lbs on Monday I.

That's brilliant well done! Your weight loss will probably slow down the closer you get to a healthy weight. Keep going don't give up. x

Well done.I am about the same height as you and started off at 12 stone and have gone down to 10 stone 5 . At first I lost about 4 Ibs a week and then it slowed down to 1 to 2 ibs a week. I eat more than you but do a lot of exercise.

Thanks Eiri, I didn't notice my weight gaining, it sort of crept up on me. Can't believe I'm heavier now than at the end of my pregnancy! (25 years ago). I know a lb doesn't seem a lot but then I think of two blocks of butter and then it's quite an acheivment!
