Hi there
Welcome
Are you following a particular diet?
There is always lots of support and advice on here.
Good luck x
Hi Michy and welcome, the NHS website has a 12 week plan that's worked for many on this forum. The BMI checker helps with suggesting a sensible calorific intake...quite surprising how much we can eat and shed the pounds....so good look and let us know how you're getting on.😉
Hi Michy
I don't know if this may help you, have you considered changing how you think about losing weight?
Being 'on a diet' implies that at some point you will be 'off a diet' & that's one of the biggest reasons people are unable to stick with a healthy lifestyle & maintain a healthy weight.
The more you focus on being 'on a diet' the harder everything can seem, because even the thoughts that surround 'dieting' are negative & imply you will have to go without things you enjoy & do lots of exercise to shed those pounds.
Instead try thinking along the lines that you are creating a healthy style of eating, that suits you and that you can ultimately sustain long term and set goals for that.
So rather than setting monthly targets for weight loss, try keeping your goals focused on the habits you want to change or develop which will promote weight loss initially, but also prevent weight regain in the long term.
So for instance, if you know you eat a lot of processed food, try setting one goal to start with to eat whole foods, and have simple home cooked meals & snacks that are balanced with 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs and 1/2 veggies/salad. Or if you know you eat too much in general, set one goal to start with to always eat the right portions of everything.
The reason this can work better, is because for some people, it can be disheartening if a goal to lose 'X no of lbs' is not achieved. It can lead to feelings of failure, cause de-motivation & increase stress levels, which are all major barriers to staying on track.
And the scales are not always consistent with their readings. I've just written a post about why.
Just a thought, good luck and use the support on here to help you, it's really great
Join the club i am exactly the same been trying for a year and is not working. This web site is extremely supportive! I personally find this tip very helpful which I have seen on this forum that food is not forbidden but one is allowed to treat themselves once in awhile. I just started yesterday eating healthier and smaller portions and went for a jog in the park. I find exercise will shift those pounds off.
Good luck! Keep posting where you will get tons of support and hopefully you will lose 2 stones.
I can sympathise Michyb31 !! However what I have mastered has been to eat smaller portions, increase fruit and veg and cut out cakes and biscuits. This has made a difference. I can't give up chocolate but have switched to good quality dark chocolate - the Aldi varieties come in small bars. This has made a difference for me. Good luck for the journey! xx
Hi and welcome Michy,
I wish you all good luck for your new way of living, not your new diet
Hi, Welcome my goal is to loose at least 2 stone as well. I'm working on changing my eating habits and increasingly exercise to help me loose the weight. I wish you good luck with your weight lose. You'll get lots of tips here and everyone is very friendly.
