Hi, i stumbled across here whilst trawling the net for some information.
I had decided at Christmas that i would make an effort to change my eating habits. I do find it hard as i am a cook by trade and my partner loves to eat. So as you can see this is a great recipe for overeating! So we are both going on a heather eating plan. I have not joined a group or club, I am sensible enough to know what is good & bad. I am lucky that my work colleges are very encouraging. ( we have some very sporty people where I work). I am working on 1500cals a week and i have joined a boot camp, and work out 3 times a week. I use MYFitness pal to track my calories. I find this a great tool to use and it is a free app. I must admit that my shopping takes longer now a days as i scan packages to see if it is within my limits, and lets face it, you want as much bang for your buck as you can get.
I do someday go a little crazy (but not often), but the next day i pull it back. One week i stayed the same, but i knew why, as i went to visit my family for the week end and ate out two nights in a row.
I think sometimes a lot of information is floating around that makes it difficult to make sense of. Like drink a glass of coconut water every day and the pounds will fall off???? Dink warm lemon infused water each morning and it helps burn the fat off????
Anyway I am looking forward to joining discussions and reading everyone's story to inspire me

I am not sure how to pronounce that. Well done I am a Newbie also and have only been on here for 2 weeks. Like you I decided action had to be taken so have given up alcohol which I did swallow quite a weekly intake of beer and the odd dram of whisky being a Scot. Food was always fairly sensible but perhaps the portions were on occasions too large. I managed 10 kilo in first 2 weeks but don't feel I had had similar success this week. Tuesday is weigh in day.
I have been to the local leisure centre 3 times Mon,Wed,and Fri with light exercise and swimming has progressed and now doing 20 lengths. Not great but getting there. I had serious surgery 2016 twice Jan & May to remove my Femur from left thigh with 9 month recovery from second operation. Glad to report all infection now gone and on the up but still on 1 stick for walking. The aim is to discard the walking aid soon. That has restricted me so far and the weight just piled on during last year. Now weighing in at 105.7 kilos so still an FF (fat fellow).
My wife is a tremendous support but does like a chocky biscuit and I have to restrain myself.
Great to make your acquaintance here and keep up the good work together we can make it to our target weight.
Pronounced Carly!. It is very hard to resist sometimes, i work as a cook in a children's nursery, so temptation is always there. Picking the odd bit of cheese as i grate it. Nibble the corner that fell off the cake i made for the children, and so on! I am doing this with my lovely man, and of course he can have an extra 500 calories than me, so it can be hard when he scoff a bowl of ice cream! I am determined to this, we have a holiday booked in September so it would be nice to of lost a stone by then, and then the next year i turn 50!!!! (party time), then the year after that i get married to my most wonderful man! So lots to aim for, i am even thinking of doing the pretty muddy run for cancer in May....
Hi Karle, When I now look at your name it's obvious but I did conjure up it was perhaps eastern European. Well done your hubby joining in, Gillian is a bit player in my quest as she is happily fine. She does however ensure I eat a health diet but sometimes I wish she would be Mr Bumble and I had to beg for more porridge, if you get my drift. Today will be Roast Lamb and vegetables no potatoes just carrots (help me see in the dark ha ha) and broccoli which I love.
It must be hard when cooking for others not to have a wee nibble. I have taken to eating more Pulse's which surprisingly I enjoy. I do have a Friday treat of Curry & Rice. keep up the good work.
If you love your Curries Ronnie try the hairy dieters curry recipes. They also do a very nice sweet & sour chicken, which I think is better than the take away!
Hi EllaMidlands. The pic was taken last year in Agadir morocco 🇲🇦. It was a great holiday, but I did feel fat. So here is to the next holiday, where I will hopefully be a stone lighter!
I take it from your name your in the Midlands? Where snouts, I am in the west mids.
Take a look at the Pinned posts section to the right of your screen (bottom if you're using a mobile), read the Welcome Newbie thread first and move through to the challenges, where we hope you'll find at least one that will appeal to you
Move down to the Topics, to find a variety of threads, collated into specific topics for ease of access and we ask that you also 'file' your own threads, so that others won't miss your important news
Have a look at the 12 week plan, as many people have been successful following it. Don't forget to take your starting measurements and a 'before' picture, as they can be very motivating on days that the scales refuse to co-operate
Although the majority of our daily weigh-in's are now quite full, we still have some spaces and Sunday's is very quiet, you'd be very welcome to join us. The threads can always be found in the Events section, to the right of the home page, bottom on a mobile.
We've found that to get the best out of this community, we need to be active on the forum, as it's where we exchange information, get motivation and inspiration and make friends. We hope that you'll join us here, regularly, too
It's only left for me to wish you well on your journey
