Time for change

Hi all, the realisation today that I weigh more than my teenage sons,  who are both 17 years old and one of whom is six foot made me decide that I can not make excuses anymore.  At 5 ft 3 and coming up to 48 years old weighing 13 stone it's definitely time for a change 

 No more yoyo and calorie counting it is!  Wish me luck

Have you looked at the NHS 12 Week Plan before? In this challenge some members of the forum are "re-booting" or in newbies' cases starting it as a group - have a look and join in if you wish:

Zest and her team of helpers run a weekly weigh in each Monday and this weeks' can be found here (Lowcal or one of the other helpers if Lowcal isn't avaliable will post a thread in the morning and then another in the early afternoon) once again, it is completely voluntary:

All the best Paula. It is good to do something good and healthy for yourself. Time to put yourself first for a while... Good luck and enjoy the journey, it is very empowering to re-claim your self-control (even if there are a few blips on the way).

Hi Paula_G. I have a 17 and a 14 year old who are both six foot and until about 12 weeks ago I weighed more than both of them too. I'm also 48 so I can really relate to what you are saying. I decided I couldn't be heavier so took action. It has not been easy but I have lost just over a stone and really am feeling the difference. Glad to think that I will be the shortest and the lightest in the family soon. Calorie counting has definitely shown me just how much I was eating over what I should have been. Somedays it is hard to focus and keep the will power going but if you are strict with yourself and keep within your allowance you will do it. Best of luck :)

Thanks. I knew I was overweight but I didn't want to deal with it. Now I am determined!  I have even taken some 'before' pictures!! 

Well done you. And keep it up. It is difficult at times,  I had started to get into the quick fix food and sugar cycle,  but have a bit of time of work so am going to break that.  Been cooking great healthy food from the NHS recipe list all week. :-)

That would be great.

I have been good and kept to my calories for the last week. I even drank a few glasses of wine over the weekend. Luckily I have a couple of weeks off work which has helped, things will get tougher when I go back as I crave sweet when I am working. Either for stress or exhaustion.
