I know a few people use fitbit or equivalent and I am looking into getting one. Does anyone recommend a specific one? There are loads out there and it's a bit baffling! I use myfitnesspal and I know some can link with this app?

I got an Up! - someone sent me some vouchers for argos so I got it at a silly price but they are a lot cheaper now. Its discrete & simple to use - 1. Put it on your wrist. 2. leave it on. 3. Tell it when you are asleep 4.Tell it when you are awake.

I found the fact that I was measuring my activity really motivating . If I don't at least walk I feel I'm letting myself down. I'll take the very long way round the shops, park at the far end of the car park just to bump the numbers up. I wanted to have an activity which would get all my paces in one go and I've found some lovely 5 mile walks which take just over an hour - wasn't walking regularly before this.

You need a newish smart phone to connect to it to and you can link other fitness apps to it it you are so inclined.

Have a look on eBay as you can get reconditioned ones on there that are much cheaper.
