Hi Kimmee,

A long walk is really good - hope you enjoy it. There's a lot of rain about in a lot of the UK at the moment though, so try not to get drenched when you go!

Hope your first week is going ok so far, and sorry to hear that yesterday was more challenging in terms of wanting to snack a lot. Hopefully today will be better.

Hope you have a good week.

Lowcal :-)

Thank you for your encouragement :) I've been on my walk (no rain - Yay!) and had a courgette & tomato frittata for breakfast, so now I just need to keep busy until lunch! Almost looking forward to my weigh in tomorrow ;)

Hi Kimmee,

Your breakfast sounds tasty, and glad you didn't have rain whilst on your walk.

Hope your weigh-in goes really well tomorrow.

Lowcal :-)

Look at what you ate when you felt the need to eat the snacks. Was it low cal, sugary flavours, or was it more protein/fat based vegtable. Im guessing you didnt eat enough protein/fat carbs and went for fruit flavours. The sugary taste triggers the need to snack even if its the low count sugars.

I'm afraid I'm a compulsive grazer, so I eat anything I can find and being in a household of a poorly husband who needs to increase his calorie intake a teenager and a couple of 20+ boys my kitchen is full of 'the wrong' food. I just have to control my eating and keep myself busy, thank you for your advice.

Try the not to day method. When you see a snack, say not today. When you see it again tomorrow, say not today. Eventually you wont eat the snack because its a not today snack.

That's a cool idea too - thank you, although on bad days I go looking for snacks!! I may have to say - not today to snacks full stop :)

Hey Kimmee. I sometimes get really hungry days and can't really identify why as I tend to eat the same for breakfast and lunch everyday.

If you are just starting out you may need to build low cal snacks into your diet and then gradually wean yourself off the snacking. Took me about 3 months to do this but it does happen.

You'd be amazed how many low cal snacks you can have if you stick to fruit (fresh & tinned), sugar free jelly and the odd weightwatcher mini roll.

Good luck :)

Thank you for your advice. I think I need to make better choices so I eat good filling meals and try to keep busy :)

It really isn't easy you do have to work hard to change your habits. I have a teenage stepson but the snacks I buy him are his and I never eat them. Before they were just snacks for us all but now they are just his - knowing this stops me eating them. That works for me, you need to work out what will work for you.

As I said it isn't easy and has taken me months to crack it, you will get there, baby steps etc.

Thank you! I will keep trying. I do keep snacks separate, but when my will power is low I still eat them :( Because I am constantly trying to get my husband to eat I seem to be in the kitchen a lot. I realise this all sounds like excuses, I know I can do this, just have to keep trying - and not give up if I 'fail' from time to time :)

It is a matter of what works for you. I always have one eve off a week, so if I really wanted something earlier in the week I save it for Friday evening. This really works for me, say I decide I'm gonna have a mars bar on Friday evening - then all week whenever I am tempted with whatever, I think - no it's ok I'm having a mars on Friday I will wait until then. Some people may think I am crazy especially those trying to cut sugar but it works for me.

I am sure you will find your own way and when you do it will be a revelation.

I don't see your reasons as excuses, if you find food hard to resist (like most of us here) then being in a situation where you have to be in the kitchen a lot is going to be really hard - that's a fact not an excuse.

One last thing, can you give your husband food you don't like (but he does ;)) or protein shakes or even those calorific milkshakes if you can resist them yourself? Check the calories and you may never eat them again.

Best of luck :)

Thank you for all your encouragement and ideas! I'm afraid there isn't much food I don't like - Ha! that's why I'm here I guess :) He does have a shake in the morning and as I went off drinking milk during my last pregnancy (16 years ago!!!) I am not tempted at all thankfully. I like your idea of one treat a week - I may try that. :)

It was a habit thing Concerned. I have broken the habit and now don't need them. I just used the low cal snacks to break the habit and still lose weight. I am a reformed snacker :)

2lb lost. Sitting here wondering whether I'd gain weight or lose weight if I chewed off my own arm.
