Hi Prince56,

Welcome to the Weight Loss NHS forum.  Are you following the NHS 12 week plan?  I know you started a diet on Tuesday, and I know you've not seen any change on the scales yet.  If you haven't seen the NHS 12 week plan, then maybe check out whether you're eating sufficient calories, as the BMI calculator there will take account of your height, weight and activity levels, and will assign you a calorie range to eat within.  If you're not eating sufficient calories and if you're not eating the nutrients your body needs, then you may suffer from hunger, and you might not necessarily lose anything.

I'd also like to give you a link to our Welcome Newbie post:

It's got lots of helpful suggestions from people within the forum.

Maybe join our Monday group weigh-in, if you'd like to have the support of a larger group.

Thank you for the very needed information, I have been following the 1000 calories a day diet, I must have been eating a lot, because it seems a very small amount of food! I'm sticking with it and I think my stomach may have shrunk a bit as not too hungry today!

Hi Prince,

Have you seen this link for 'getting started' as there's a BMI calculator there (right hand side of the page) which gives you a recommended calorie range, which takes into account your height, weight, and activity levels.  It's important to eat sufficient nutrients for your body's needs, and also a healthy balanced diet is recommended in the NHS 12 week plan.

I don't know about the 1000 calorie diet you're mentioning, but it does sound quite low.

Obviously you must choose to follow what you find helpful,  but I wanted to give you the link to the Weight Loss NHS resources, as this is the Weight Loss NHS community forum:

Good luck with everything!

It is difficult to say unless we know what you have been consuming? Also how much weight are you looking to lose?

Typically things that might stop the weight loss are; portion sizes, fizzy drinks loaded with sugar, eating the wrong types of foods.

Keep a food diary and record absolutely everything you consume including drinks and  add up every calorie. If you are consuming less than your recommended daily calorie intake to lose weight then you will lose weight - check the 12 week nhs plan and make sure you are sticking to the guidelines.

I am following the plan & eating a varied diet, no sugary drinks! I just think I have been overeating for a while now so the drop in calories was a big shock! Starting to feel less starving, thanks for tips

I have lost alot of weight / water in first weeks, I kept within my calorie allowance and here is an idea of what I ate bran flakes and semi skimmed milk for breakfast, then at 11 am a snack of 3 strawberries a tablespoon of blueberries and 5 cashew nuts or 100g carrot and 60g celery and 5 nuts, then lunch either cous cous or beans on toast or sandwich, then 3pm another snack as above, then at 5pm 2 grilled chicken breasts with a salad or rice and a sprinkle of tikka powder rub but measure kcals and an apple for pudding, then enough kcals left to have something in the evening I find little and often really helped as I'm never totally empty I guess and I always carry a water bottle. just started day 5 of week 2 and I have lost just over 10lbs and eating more than ever just watching my fats and sugars now, I include snacks so I have things I can cut back on later but the nearer your calorie intake you are the better you lose.

Hidden  thank you for your plan, and oh my god well done on your amazing weight loss! I'm also eating every 3 hours, little and often, otherwise I'm just too hungry! I'm on week 3 now, I feel and look like I've lost, my belt is looser, I feel great but I seem to be the same weight! My husband says it's because muscle weighs more than fat & ive been exercising a lot, I'm not going to weigh myself for at least a fortnight still so motivated as I feel 10 years younger, so much energy! I'll take your diet because I think I'm still eating too much compared to yours, thank you again, you are doing amazing, if I stick to yours then I think I'll loose!
